peralite or vermiculite

just about to repot after 14 days. plants around 6" and looking good( apart from 1 little mutant, but she seems to be kinda catching up). whats the difference between using peralite or vermiculite? shop only had vermic so i just bought it but i havent yet repotted. cant make my mind up whether to get peralite or just go with the vermic. :confused::confused: opinions and advice please folks:roll: the church strain under 2 x 55watt cfl but shifting to 600 watt hps on an 18/6 and no nutes yet. and ratio (soil/peral/vermic) advice as weell if possible.:dunce:

USe both. mix in equal parts.

Oh advice.....4 parts soil. 1/2 part vermiculite, 1/2 part pearlite. Soil should contain a good mix of ogrganics, including peat moss, compost, and topsoil.
 
i use both but i use peat free dirt as recommended by a friend not that i know that much on my 2nd grow but think its because u added nutes in the right doses so u want clean dirt

Peat is great for soil grows, it holds nutrients well and water. Making it readily available for the plant to use. THE problem you can run into is, if you fertalize a lot, it can start to build up in the peat moss first, creating areas of high concentration over time, and burn out sections of roots.

It is wise to give PLAIN water every other watering with with water retainment materials in the soil.

Peat helps to keep the soil mixture light, and pearlite helps keep air around the roots. A wikkid combination for soil grows. Stimulates quick and strong root development.
