Allrighty i have a few questions i wanna toss out there for anyone who has any suggestions, myself being a first time indoor grower. Im planning on purchasing a 1000W HPS/MH conversion light. Any suggestions on a certain make or model? My original plan was to hope that 1 X 1000W HPS/MH lamp would be enough juice for all 10 of my girls around 2 1/2 ft tall, but now im having second thoughts should i run more? ALso! any specific online websites that are better than others? im running into a ton out there all with resonable prices, or is there a general rule or thumb what store is superior. haha im trying to hope on the fast track to learning the ropes of indoor growing.. thanks guys.:joint:

HTG is good, and also cheaphydroponics seams to be good. Ebay is a good place as well, but you may not be buying from a reliable dealer. As far as how many plants you can put under a 1000w you have not even finished your own sentence. You did say that you would grow them to about 2.5 feet. However you left out the style of grow that you would like to do. If you did a lollipop technique you could possibly fit 64 plants under there. If you grew bushes you could get about two. So firstly you need to study up and decide what style of grow you would like to do. There are numerous styles out there, and they all have there place. Also are you going to do dirt, or hydro? That will help to dictate your style of grow, and the componants that you buy. don't buy a 1000w just because it is a 1000w. If you do it right you can get great yields out of a 600w or even a 400w. It just all depends on you. You need to do the research, and take the time to do this right. Don't go big just because it is big. Bigger is not always better in every situation. Espcecially if it is your first go around. I would start with a small 400w setup and learn on it. Then you can upgrade, and use your 400w for vegging, and setup a 1000w for your flowering. My two cents.

With the 1000W, I'd ditch the MH conversion idea.

I'd SOG it (Sea Of Green : a mass of smaller single cola plants)
(can keep a mother and clones on CFLs/Floros just fine)

Or grow a few trees. (with the MH) But thats gonna add time.

Bang for the buck and time, SOG!

ya thanks for the tips guys. Sorry forgot to add a few important details. Not planning on running hydro for these first few grows although maybe down the line who knows i wouldnt have to alter my setup too much to possibly run a fill/drain technique in the box i have. However, as for now i have 14 white 3.17 gallon square pots, w foxfarms soil, prlly about a 5x5x9 growing space, good reflective walls, mylar rightup to the table almost tent like lol. Im planning on posting a start to finish story on it once i get things moving a little farther. its actually a pretty unique place to grow i think you guys will get a kick out of it lol. as far as SOG goes, would it be worth it in such a small area? do i need one of those vertical hoods? How many SOG plants do you need for it to be a more viable method. Thanks again guys. . ohh ya almost forgot, i have a small triangular shaped room in the corner of this building looks perfect for mother/clones, will prlly just run the two on a few aquarium floros i have.

Search for Al B. Fuct posts. I think his room size is about the same as yours. He loves the SOG (I was sorry when he left here. Was kinda abrupt)
He has a FAQ thread, I think the Al B. Faqt or something like that. excellent info.

I'm thinking you will try different ideas & systems. I did/am. Still trying to find the right system for *me*. And I think thats the key. Try and see. No one here can tell you whats best for you and your needs.
