Peat pellets kick friggin ass.You can start your seeds in them,they root in there and you can transplant to soil without actually touching them.
Hell you can even clone in them,my last batch of 50 had a 98% survival rate,although it took me a bit of practice to get it this high I never had more than 1 outta 15 die.

yeah i use them and have about 100% success with cloning and seed germination. but i'm sure i could use anything.

what about germing the seed to get the tail, then planting in the peat pellots? hypothetically of course.

Peat pellets are a perfectly acceptable start for your babies. However, I find that plants will grow bigger and stronger...faster if sprouted in the soil that will be provided throughout its life.
For example, when I used peat pellets, my plants took FOREVER to grow big enough for flowering. Whereas when I planted some of the same seeds under the same conditions directly in my potting mix, my plants grew up faster and produced denser buds. I am still in the process of experimenting but I figure that potting soil provides more nutrients for young, impressionable roots.
I used Miracle Gro's Organic Choice Potting Mix and found that it worked much better than peat pellets.

i hate jiffy pots, peat pellets. i think they slow the root growth cos the peat is so tight around the root eg to much hard work to grow big but i love how they grow in just peat moss real light and stays most for about right amount of time. its all i use i live by the shit lol

hmmm most people seem to think peat pellets are cool.
a few say the root systems grow better if started in soil. for some reason the latter makes sense to me.
maybe its because i am a sucker for keeping things as natural as possible.
it seems it makes more sense that sprouting them in the same growing medium as they will spend the rest of their life in will make them happier.
in the wild seeds prolly wouldnt start in peat moss but they seem plenty suitable for most use.
