I was wondering if it was possible to grow on nothing else but peat moss?...not even considering it unless i hear some good news about it telling me differently?....Also what if i did a 50-50 mix of half perlite and half peat moss....or do you need to have some sort of dirt in their to get the plants going?....thanks any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Black gold sells a nice coco-blend---It has coco/peat/dolomite lime/earthworm castings and a little yucca cactus juice to help hold a little moisture---works very well.

any plant or garden store, you are shopping for orchid block in actuality (they didnt name it dope growers log) its 100% sterile and has the highest moisture retention of any dirt. its usually compressed and dehydrated so to use it you soak it in water untill it expands and breaks up.

Peat moss isn't a bad thing guys, it is a very good amendment as long as it's used in the proper portions. My mix is 30% peat moss, 30% mushroom compost, and 40% perlite with 1 large tablespoon of dolomite lime per gallon of mix.

You can find it at any hydro store, it is essentially a hydroponic medium that requires almost daily waterings and a pH of 5.5. If you are just starting off then stick with soil, unless you are up for a challenge.

ya i think im not going to use it im going to go with a 30 peat moss 30 perlite and 50 topsoil so hopefully everything goes good. and one more thing your not supposed to give them any kind of nutes for the first 2 months...so should i stick with just soil till the 2nd transplant to use the nutes?
