oK so my box temps lately have been around 80-85, I've been trying to fix it all day , with no luck i have 3x18w CFL'S and 2x42w CFL'S, At first i was running one 42w & 18w, the temp was around 83-85 at, so i tried to fix this by leaving only the 42w in there, the temp basically went down about 2 degrees, I have 2 pc fans one for intake and one for out, the bottom one, which is the intake was slightly covered so i moved it the way it is in pic 2, but still the temp is at around 83, i tried everything my room is cold, i have all windows open, ceiling fan on high, and a small fan blowing air str8 to the back of the box where the fans are the temp still in the low 80's but never lower then 80, this shit sucks no matter what i try i can't get the temp at least at 79-77, can somebody please help me before i lose these already fuckin up plants, which threw research, i've determined are messing up because the temperature fluctuation.

Pretty simple man, more exhaust flow needed.
You need to get more of the hot air out.
Exhaust should be located above the lights for best results.
Try switching 1 of the 2 intake to a exhaust or just switch them all to exhaust.
See if that helps, if you are blowing air out air will find its way in so intake is not as important as getting the heat out.

As far as plant issues looks to me that you may have some issues other then temp tho.

well i have one fan blowing in and one blowing out, their small 4in pc fans , so i should just say fuck the intake and reverse it, to have 2 outtake fans?

what other problems might my plants be facing?, cause 2 days ago i finally put them in the DWC reservoir, after about 2-3 weeks just waiting for it to sprout, i may have waited to long to put them in, but they look alot better since the day before i put them in the RES so what u think?

Becareful, 2 intake fans can fight each other and end up being much less efficient pulling air out.

not 2 intakes, 2 exhaust to have all air go outwards, its a plywood box so, i figure it has a cracks and creases with little places for air to enter , so the 2 exhaust with no intake doesn't sound that bad of an idea, i just want some advice before i go modding my box.

I was wondering if there was a plant there and if it perhaps died already.

Cos, i seen a situation where plants were right infront of the fan.
Good conditions, climate was well, plants died.
The plants where right infront of a fan and somehow died cos of it.

I would see a solution in taking out a few dvd layers..

anyways, that crossed my mind when looking at the pics, ...

yeah their was a plant same seed as the one in pic#4, i did everything the same way as i did with the pic#4, but nothing sprouted.

and i was trying to move the dvds down a few but if i do they cover the intake fan resulting in my temps rising, i tried, searching & reading the only thing i found that seems like it would help would to be flip my intake to exhaust, still not 100% sure tho

and currently my box has been at 78 all morning but thats just with one 42w 6500k CFL running and i know 42w is not enough for these plants i'm kinda stuck

hmmm it would be kind of tricky cause both fans are wired together, one thing i was thinking was to switch the fans have the top for intake and the bottom for exhaust but IDK, it seems kinda dumb like i would just be spreading more hot air in the box and possibly raise the temps

Hot air rises also find some way to drop those plants and the light lose the dvd containers. They are taking up space and air that could be cooling the plant. You need space and air in that thing and you don't have either.

wouldn't the plants be stretching?, i can't lower the lights cause the way their screwed in is weird, the builder of the box somehome screwed thru the power strip so i don't even want to mess with that but i tried it with two exhaust the temps where higher then the original way i had it around 88, so i put it back the way i had it and took the res down to right under the intake fan, gonna check on it in a few minutes but the plants are starting to go into its dark period at 5:00pm to 11 so i'll have to check again at like 11:30

Yeah that's about the only thing I can think of besides more fans. Seems like a badly designed box cfls need to be moved and finding the right point is a pain. I don't think the air in your box is moving enough. More fans is probably the best idea if you aren't going to move the plants lights etc...

well i gotta wait to 11 tonight to check it out now but when i last checked them the res was lowered and the temp was at 77-79, the whole problem was the intake air was getting no where near the top where the res was because all the stuff i was using to prop it up, im gonna try to lower the lights tonight or tomorrow morning but for now i just have to sit and wait to not interrupt its dark period

This is my first grow, and those are bag seeds, i'm just trying to at least get these out of its veg state, no matter what sex it is, i know they must be stressed already and might Hermie anyway, just my experimental plants till i get the hang of growing a bit, then i move on to buying seeds online

No, you need a hole as big as all your fans combined. "Cracks and creases" are nowhere near enough.

^yeah i figured that out when i flipped the intake to exhaust an the temp went to 88 degrees, so i just took out all the dvds enough to have the res right under the intake fan and it got down to around 77-78 now i just need to get the res closer to the lights, but i can't block the intake fan, and im unsure weather i can unscrew the power strip in there to lower the lights
