Part Hydro, Part Soil Grow. My Grow #2

Hi everybody. This is my second grow as i am finishing up my first. With my first grow i gained much knowledge, and now im going to put myself to the test.

I will be using a 400 watt mh for veggin.
And then switch to, of corse, super HPS by hortilux for flower stage.
I know its not a lot of watts, but for a closet it shall be sufficient.

I will be experimenting for the first time with an ebb n flow hydroponic system.
I will also be trying to gain more skill with soil grown plants as well.

I will be very active on posting pictures and updating this thread as i am on here nearly every day. As of right now the germination and grow room setup has already began.

I will not only be using seeds for the grow, but also clones.

For now i am just starting this thread so its easy for me to continue on. I will begin the grow with you in a couple of days. This should be fun. Wish me luck.

alright so for my grow room this time around i decided to put some mylar up

now the mylar is no good without plants, so the plants are coming and here they are as babies...younger then baby...a fetis still?? i dont kno haha

if you look close enough at the picture you can see one seed that already has germinated with its little white tap root chillin

Here is a rough setup of the hyrdo ebb n flow system before its actually put together.

i cant wait till its all lookin nice n pretty green...soon...very soon

we are starting with rockwool this time around. plus for hydro anyway. but i believe we can put the cubes into bigger cubes or into soil if we wanted to right?? any one help on that?

today we drilled the trays and put on the fittings. its all comin together nice. here are the soon to be seedlings.

many are just about to break the surface. here are some pics from earlier today.

alrighty. here is at about 5 days. were off and going noow. hope its a smooth ride. the last shot is of some bud from what i harvested so far from my first soil grow. i wish i had a betteer camera for a close up but i think it is very good.

i made this little reflector for my lights out of some cardboadrd n lines it with mylar. i think it should help. decided to take a pic of it. ha

i siwtched to dwc hydro system at the last minute. i kno i said ebb n flow buuuut that system wasnt goin to work for me how i wanted it to. so dwc it is. i just got back to my hometown with some cuttings of white russian from san diego. we will root those and start them in their own dwc system. i havent been to my grow area in over a week but come a couple days i will be there. i have had a buddy checkin ph levels and watering my soiled plants. im excited to see the progress. and i look foward to sharing my photos with u. so stay tuned yall..if u want

yup. more pics on the way. i just have not been home yet. i have been out of town for spring break. tomrrow night ill be updating. thanks for being intrested!

Alllright so i got home last night and to my surprise the hydro plants in the dwc system did not grow very much, in fact one plant did not grow at all since i left. Even though all of the roots have came out of the bottom i do not understand why they have not grown. the ph has been 5.5-6. i took out some water because the water level was still at the bottom of the baskets. i dropped it about two inches. the roots are all long on all of them but only 3 have grown at all. all these were planted at the same and u can see how much faaster the soil ones grew. any help would be helpful and appreciated as i am new grower to hydroponics of any kind. thanks

for got to add that this is at 1 week 6 days after the planted germinated seed

the top temp is the temperature at nearly the hottest part of the day.

the bottom temperature is the water temperature in the hydro sytem. i read somewhere the ideal temp should be 67 so a suppose this isnt too bad.

alright here is the bud we came home to that dried from our other plant. the first half we cut off was a half ounce and the rest which are in the pics is 23 grams so all together the plant yielded almost a half ounce. the buds are very dense very gooey very smelly very happy with the results
