Paranoid or problem

So my seedling is growing kind of sideways and it seemed as though it was stretching for the light so I lowered it from 36" to 20". 300w led. It's no more than an inch, but the cotyledons and true leaves are tilted sideways and the left cotyledon is way tinier than the right as you can see. Maybe just from pushing through the big chunks of perlite? The light is completely parallel with the pot.

You're fine it's looking good. Be patient and don't coddle it to death.

Alright good to hear! How tall should a seedling get under adequate lighting? I'm not real sure if or when to lower the light some more.

Don’t change anything for a week, unless it shows signs of heat stress, its going to be fine. Don’t love it to death is the best advice.
Stop worrying, I know it is hard, I remember that feeling.

Sometimes one cotyledon is almost nonexistent. Perlite is no problem for seedlings. The fact that it has proper leaves started means it will probably be perfectly healthy unless you smother it with kindness. That’s a happy little seedling

It's a warm 73 pretty much constant so I'll keep a look out for light burn. Thanks for the advice I appreciate it. All the pics I've seen of seedlings have always been symmetrical so I thought I had a gimpy seed.

73f is great, a bit cool for my tastes, but that sounds fine.

I read that 77 is the highest you should go for seedlings. Is that not the case in your experience?

Keeping the temps down in the lower end of the ideal range can get you more females. More red light, like what you're getting from your led, can give you more males and cause the stem to stretch. I'm not sure if that's still the case with a good led with a balanced spectrum though.

Watch the stalk closely. It should only keep getting thicker. If it starts to stretch you'll probably see the stem start to get thinner. If that starts to happen it should be pretty obvious with those thick stalks you've got.

I didn't mention it's a feminized auto. She's looking nice and healthy.

Lookin' good!

Okay so it's day 6 and the stem is now a reddish purple. The second set of leaves have just begun to emerge. I've read that it could be a variety of things as well as genetics. I don't see any other symptoms.

Looks fine, growing fine. Seeds do weird shit sometimes. Stay patient for now.

Looks fine, stop smothering it! Patience and let it do its thing.

The reddish purple stem is pretty normal on seedlings that haven't hardened off yet. Later you'll actually see the plant shed that as an outer skin. It does look like it's stretching more than it should though. It's probably from the red heavy light spectrum.

I placed the cardboard tube "jiffy pot" in the final pot. Also... red leaves. Nitrogen deficiency already or too much light?

It's not too common but sometimes seedlings will just have funky leaves like that. It has nothing to do with your light. Judging by the side profile pic you're not actually having the stretching that I thought I saw either.

Yeah it's hard to get the right perspective with the pics and purple lighting. To the naked eye it isn't nearly as purple.
Ill just keep watering as usual. I appreciate the feedback!

I remember being freaked about everything too... weve all gone through it. Remember the term "weed" is not slang! This plant was a weed for millenia before people started ph checking its soil with a goal down to the tenths and adjusting if its a tenth off with urgency, adding 64 different additives to make ensure its survival, making sure her flower lights are not on for 12 hours thirty seconds... yes we can extenuate already existing genetic traits of this weed. She is no pussy! This is a tough veracous weed that wants to grow...

Folks scare new folks at times making them think this is extremely difficult to get right. Remember the plant is the captain, you are merely her assistant...

Btw i always get purple stems iv chased everyb"fix" i could find for it till i realized the goods got ya goofy and there was always plenty... i quit worrying about it
