Palin ....

Regardless of who you support, this election is now in play. A few days ago most polls showed Obama a few points ahead, yet still a statistical dead heat. After the VP debates Governor Palin will have sealed a landslide for one party or the other. If she falters then Obama wins big. If she holds her own against Joe Biden, then McCain rides down Pennsylvania Avenue on 1-20-2009.

Where has anyone expressed hostility to any race, or anyone for that matter? You are totally delusional, race-card playing ignoramus and your presence is not welcome here.

Eh, I don't really agree with rejecting people because of their age. But to say it's not an issue would be disingenuous of me; it is an issue for me, because should McCain die, we'd have a president with less than half a term as governor of our least populated state. I believe the population of Alaska is about the same as a small-to-medium city. So, basically, she's got the experience of a small--to-medium city mayor.

She also has no clue how to manage a national budget. Alaska's budget is much simpler than most states, because they tax the oil companies for revenue (something McCain doesn't agree with, incidentally). What works in Alaska would absolutely not work anywhere else, so whatever lessons she's learned in terms of making Alaska work well, they're the wrong lessons if she's going to be dealing with national budget issues.

Palin is for removing the freedom of women to determine their own destiny as regards their own bodies. So, she is anti-freedom. She's rather extremist on that point too. For example, let's say an AIDS-infected escaped prisoner rapes your mother and gets her pregnant. Then you find out that the guy also has a genetic defect that makes all his babies have some devastating disease that will cost $50k/year to treat. Palin would like the laws to say, tough shit, your mom must carry that rape-baby to term, or face legal penalties. I don't want to take a time machine back to the 50s.

I firmly believe in the separation of church and state. Palin would have creationism taught in school, which means that she's unaware that our laws preclude that, or she's unaware of what science is and gets it confused with religion. Or she just *wants* religion (her religion, I would assume) taught in schools.

That said, as a Democrat, I'm not at all unhappy that McCain selected her. It shows his bad judgment and his willingness to cave in to the religious right. Maverick my ass; he's a flunky for the extreme right.

And how thoroughly was she vetted? McCain's said he likes to know people, so he can properly assess their character. He thoroughly vetted her with one social meeting a few months ago? Yeah, like he thoroughly vetted Iraq's involvement with 9/11. His judgment was wrong there too.

Might as well just start calling him McLame, because losing is in his future.

Lol, I think it's being mentally young, full of testosterone, and pretty much paranoid of everything else, especially the government.
The funny thing is that those guys swing the flag around the most, call them self's patriots, but pretty much only care about their own hateful asses.

McCain's chances of living for four years are probably no better than 50-50. About one in three VPs take over the Oval Office in mid-term.

Because of the size of Alaska and the diversity of people, it appears to have a rather complicated budget. Much of it's income is tax revenue from petrolium. But, the state produces 20 percent of all domestic production. So, many people feel that budget resourcing is in line with the interests of the state residents.

This charge has been made, but thus far no one has produced evidence that she feel this way. Do you have a link to a resource?

Many people, including most democrats, believe it means McCain is willing to make a big gamble. At this point I wounder if we really could do much worse than we have had for the last 16 years? After all, Governor Palin has more governing experiance than Senator Obama, doesn't she?

And how thoroughly was she vetted? McCain's said he likes to know people, so he can properly assess their character. He thoroughly vetted her with one social meeting a few months ago? Yeah, like he thoroughly vetted Iraq's involvement with 9/11. His judgment was wrong there too.

We will see what happens. A few days ago, the election looked like a dead-heat that would be decided in the Electorial College. Now it WILL be decided in the voting booth with a clear majority. This whole election turns on the VP debate in St. Louis next month.

You seem to be the one slinging insults. Your desperation is betrayed by your rhetoric.

It is especially funny because you obviously intended this thread to bash Governor Palin. That backfired spectacularly.

LOL, yeah, you are right about that:mrgreen:! I seriously didn't think that this much ignorance was possible on this site :eyesmoke:,lol. But I stand corrected:mrgreen:

And yes, you are also right about me being desperate, many of us are being desperate when we look at the world as should YOU!
Us and the world are facing real issues, and fascism is not going to solve them. I will not apologize for seeing beyond your limits.
Have you atrophied so far that you can not see anything beyond your own selfish needs?
Here is the all mighty republican slogan:

In 2006, while running for governor, Palin was asked what she would do if her own daughter were raped and became pregnant; she responded that she would "choose life". She's also described herself as being '"as pro-life as a person can be'". Just how pro-life can a person be? They can be extreme, and she is, admittedly so. She's not run on that platform, but clearly, if she's the one selecting judges for SCOTUS, she's going to pick judges that agree with her, which means Roe v. Wade becomes an endangered species if either she or McCain takes office. And then we'll be back to the 1950's coathanger method. Here's a Wiki link to get you started:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_positions_of_Sarah_Palin

She's also a global warming disbeliever. Which strikes me as rather obtuse, seeing as she's close enough to the north pole to see the effects of global warming for herself if she'd just open her eyes, or listen to the consensus of the scientific community. Another science-hater we do not need, because inevitably when a person excludes science, they fill the hole with religion.

Also, I've little complaints about the Clinton years. Were things so bad then? Gas was cheap, we weren't fighting an unnecessary war, the Congressional Budget Office was projecting a multi-trillion-dollar surplus, our soldiers got the care they deserved, the world more or less respected us (way more than they do now under Bush, that's for sure), and so on. Exactly what was so horrible about the Clinton years? Am I forgetting something?

Not a Republican, though I will probably vote Republican this election.

Your hatred and desperation oozes out of every post.

Yeah, I care! But that would be a weakness in your world! The thing is that I even care about you and your kids, I care about their freedoms as much as I care about mine. I want them to live in a country and by extension in a world that grants them the same if not better chances that I have been given.
So yes, I CARE, and no, I do not need my mommy for that, my mommy did a good job on me, that's why I care! You should try it sometimes, it's liberating :)

PS: It's funny how republicans always start with 'I'm not a republican but I'm going to vote republican...' Grow up, and at least have the balls to call yourself what you are republican, and by extension you should say:'I care only about myself and my immediate family!

More government is the answer. Steal from the rich and give to the blessed poor.
