I will back that last sentence 10 out of 10. One day you see like 2-3 pins. The next day you see like 10-15, and then like 2-3 days later their huge, then the veil starts to pull away the next day. Oh and they look soooo cool as they grow, I wish i had a good camera cause i would do a timelapse video. For fruiting chamber i've had problems with doing holes, I never could keep the humidity up. I think I had too many in a smaller chamber but I've had the best luck with a sealed container and opening and fanning like 2-3 times a day. Only fan for about 10 secs.

Also guys, how do you like the Z-strain. I just started growing mushies back in Febuary but I have done 10 jars of Texas, 10 jars of Treasure Coast, 5 jars of Golden Teacher (from LC, friend had cloned one), and right now have 5 of PESA at 60% colonization. Texas and Treasure Coast took about 20 days to fully colonize jar. I loved the Golden Teacher, hard to say how fast they would have colonized from spore cause from LC it took 14 days exactly.
I did Golden Teachers as well, those were awesome.. I'm also having quite a bit of humidity trouble with the terrarium, I was told I needed more air exchange so I made more holes and go no I had to cover up half of them (now it's about 93% RH)... I'm gonna get another container and only drill a few holes

It will also take practice as well as trial & error until you find what technique works best for you.. Once they start to fruit it's like OMG coolest feeling in the world lol and it's amazing how fast they grow
Well once we're in a 'quoting ring' I might as well bring it back to where it begun and for good reason.. speaking of "OMG coolest feeling in the world", check it out!! And so it begins...

Not sure why they're coming out the bottom, when they were colonizing in the jars the mycelium was starting to colonize the extra dry layer of vermiculite so I had to wipe that off, and that was the side that I put on the bottom (on the tin foil).. Anyways, I'm not sure if these are the Z-strain or the Dancing Tiger, I mixed them all up.. I'll only be able to tell once they all fruit..

I'll keep you all in the loop

Sweet, keep us posted.. Z-strain is 'supposed' to be one of the fastest colonizing/growing strains from what I hear, but not sure if it lives up to that or not lol

K so these two cakes are showing quite a few more pins and the existing shrooms seem to be growing nicely.. I won't bother circling or pointing all of them out, instead I'll let you guys look for them like where's waldo the same way I did; much more exciting/rewarding when you find them on your own :)

OK so I owe you guys some photos.. I had a 26g wet harvest (so about 2.5 dry) on one of the cakes (drying now) and here's some more pics.. the bigger ones here should be ready to harvest by tomorrow night or the next day the latest and the others should take off pretty soon hopefully - kick ass pin set

Comments are welcome/appreciated

Holy shit they grew fast! Looking good man +Rep. My jars still haven't started to colonize yet at least that I can tell but hopefully I'll have some mushrooms like that real soon.

For as much work that goes into getting shrooms from these cakes, you can also grow a different way and get WAAAYY much more weight out of it. 44 wet grams???? That is barely enough for one trip.
I understand that most people here are not looking to sell, and just want enough for themselves and maybe a friend or two.
The way I used to grow was like this:

1. Germinate spores in agar medium. (10 days - 3 weeks)
2. Transfer dikaryotic mycelium from the agar to multiple agar plates. (10 days)
3. Innoculate sterilized jars of rye berries with slices of mycelium covered agar medium. (10 days)
4. Get a decent sized rubbermaid storage bin. A tiny rubbermaid shoebox sized bin would probably yield 2 dry ounces, AT LEAST. Make a 3 layer sandwich: perlite on the bottom, mycelium covered rye berries in the middle, and casing on the top.
5. Let the mycelium penetrate the casing layer in darkness. (maybe 3 weeks???)
6. Take the top off of the container and start a 12/12 light cycle. And that's it. This should fruit for about a month.

It doesn't seem like this would be any more work than the PF Tek method. Maybe it is just me.

Sounds interesting, thanks for the input and suggestion, and I appreciate you not being aggressive about it like some others are :)

The reason I went with PF Tek this time around was because I had the materials I needed for it and I wasn't looking to spend money on other items, though next time I'll likely be trying another method (I like to give things a chance, whether it's people or growing techniques, I think every entity deserves an opportunity to prove itself)

In a couple of days the other 2-3 cakes should really take off so I'll get some pics then

To be honest, I'm really not sure.. I mixed all the jars up while they were colonizing by accident LOL, oops...

Man these things are growing nicely I love the look of them too and how they're protruding. They're bigger every time I go to fan/mist/say hi to them.. it's unbelievable.. I'm not certain however I believe these are the Dancing Tigers and the others that were harvested were Z-strain

There's 3 cakes of this variety.. the other two have roughly half the amount of fruit as this one but it's hard to say exactly

Thanks, check it out guys I just harvested, grand total of 140g wet first flush 5 cakes (4 z-strain, 1 dancing tiger), I'm pleased this time around :)

The dancing tiger produced 23g wet

So far one of the Z-strain cakes (the first one I harvested) is already pinning/fruiting again (you can see it at the top left of both pics), it should have some biggies by the weekend I'm hoping

Here's some pics for now from pre-harvest
