Oxygenating the roots?

Has anyone ever tried to get a tank or bottle of pure O2 and release it on to the roots the same way that you do with CO2 onto the buds? Would this even do anything?

But what about the roots? I thought that the idea behind aeroponics was to give the roots more access to oxygen.

Just get some airstones and an air pump. Done. Oh, and you're right about the roots needing lots of air.

wrong, wrong, wrong!!!! i have regular bubblers and i have a badass oxygen machine for copd patients when i hook the o2 machine to them they act like there on crystal meth.last nite i had my lights 6 in above the plants and the fucking plants grew 6 in in about 1 and a half hoursminor burns because the fan was running.so its not unattended any more on o2.hope i helped.my plants roots look like awesome blond hair!!!!!peace

Never heard of that but it sounds interesting. What exactly is an O2 machine and how do you hook it up? Could that be done with a drip sytem?

THANKS!! Thats cool to know!! How long have you had this O2 machine, where can I get one and how much do they cost??

i really dont know how much they cost.im sure there really expensive this one is for a patient and it gets regularly scheduled maintenance.it has an adjustment that lets you change the litres per minute and a water tank that cools the air after the oxygen is generated.i guess i should break down and buy a digital camera so you can see these babies, ready to clone @3 weeks from seed.im only using silvania grow lux bulbs too $6 us each.last year they flowered my plants big buds but my buddies didnt turn on the ventilation while i was working lost the plants too severe burns.then i i and the rest of my bros severely burned the rest of them over a month ion the bong lol!!!!!!!!!it may be a few days if this link is still going ill put some pics up.ps its used as a bubbler, not in any eingeddy type set up, deep water culture.:peace:

I hope your patient didn't die while you were using the machine for your plants. lol
That wouldwork with drip, when the roots get long enough they're sitting in the water anyway.
Welder's o2 is cheap enough but I don't know if the purity is a problem.

I was thinking about welding O2, Or I think that some Commercial Dive shops might carry it as well. if this thread dies i might just repost it in the general growing forum. thanks again for the info! I would love to see some pics!!!

This seems like such a good and simple idea I wonder why it's not common practice?

cause air pumps and stones is the common practice.
I think he is talking about pure oxygen from a tank and then running it through an airstone. That sounds like a great idea! I'm sure a few people have tried it, maybe.... I dont see why it wouldn't work a little better, but what about costs, is it worth it?

i understood - it is just there already is a common practice for oxygenating roots. I'm not saying it is the best - just that it is...

Probably cause getting pure oxygen is not as easy as getting an air pump - not to mention the extreme flammability. ka-boom.

WOW, didn't think about the ka-boom factor. Enclosed room, very hot lights, lots of electrical circuits, maybe an electric heater at night. Oxygen itself doesn't burn but any fire that started would be out of control in seconds.
Remember those astronauts?

I know that you can get Nitrox gas at a dive shop. All Nitrox is, is oxygen enriched air. I think that contains something like 40% oxygen/60% nitrogen where as normal air is 21% Oxygen/78% nitrogen.

And i'm pretty sure that Nitrox will not explode.

my honest opinion (i repeat: opinion) is unless you have fine-tuned your lights, medium, nutrients and everything else - worrying about 02 in the water may be a waste of effort (and money if it costs you).

I was actually thinking of running it into my 6" aeroponic tubes. Not the water its self.

I think that it's worth a shot. I have never really read up on how o2 helps the roots I just know it helps. I think you should do a journal and try one row w/o2 and one w/o. I'm sure a ton of people would be interested.
