I have a white widow from seed planted april 7. She is 3 ft by almost 3 ft and has been grown in my backyard in a box I built for the nosey neighbors. She is newly in a 15 gallon pot. I noticed on 7/12/11 that she was begining to flower and may have already been a couple days in. It is mid july should she be flowering this early or can she be getting to much shade. And today a purple spot popped up on a leaf. Does anyone have any helping words?IMG-20110715-00867.jpgIMG-20110715-00878.jpg

What is that, ink? Dont worry about the spot and yes its normal for some strains to start flowering now.

If it's one spot, don't sweat it. Could be a small pigment mutation or just a bird pooped on it. If it spreads then worry.

And 12/12 is really an indoor thing. Some strains will actually flower at 14/10 or so. It varies from strain to strain. People just do 12/12 because it's universal and easy to remember. Technically you could program a complete replication of the sun using multiple lights or LED panels. I've seen them on aquariums.. they cost like a grand but you can actually have it simulate the sun, cloudy days, solar eclipses, phases of the moon, and even the angle of the sun in the 'sky'.

Of course you can just get a timer and go 12/12 and not worry about it too. ;)
