Our first organic run

So we recently got a 400w MH/HPS switchable /dimmable ballast and we like it a lot. Running 5 feminized plants in home-made decade-old organic compost. Plants are in good-sized planters to ensure root space. First pistils showed a week ago, and that's when I switched over from fish emulsion (5-1-1) to Earth Juice (0-3-1). I noticed yesterday that a few of the bottom leaves are yellowing. I am guessing the girls are missing the Nitrogen they no longer receive. This is our 1-st organic run, and I just mixed some epsom salts (Mg.) in with a 50/50 Fish Emulsion / Earth Juice Bloom. This way, they will get plenty of N, along with a Mg.supplement in flowering. The ladies are: Durga Mata II fem. (3) and Amnesia fem (2). I also have 3 little seedlings in 20oz. party cups, which are 2 wks. old. Hoping I'll find a good male to hit my best females with and produce some free, quality beans :joint:

DSCN0871.JPG Tallest plant is the Amnesia. 2 Durga Mata II (CBD strain) in front and another DM 2 and Amnesia remain hidden in the jungle. Hoping to use my Hindu Kush male to make a few seeds (HK x DM2) in order to keep these genes around for a while:leaf:

Don't believe the bullshit, you don't need a different nutrient for when they are flowering.
Especially if you have such good compost.
They just do that to sell you two bottles instead of one.
the switchable ballasts are great, especially if you like mixing spectrums for flowering.
a mh and a hps will ALWAYS make better herb than just an HPS, less lumens sure, but you'll notice the difference in the end

So I could just keep using Fish Emulsion (5-1-1) to flower them all the way through? Won't that create leafy buds?

Nah, that's more hydro myth stuff. You could absolutely use fish emulsion beginning to end.
It's actually very amazing to me on how little cannabis actually needs, especially when grown organically, with a good compost, which seems like you have.
Personally I don't use fish emulsion anymore, kinda stinky.. that and I like my amendments to double as a IPM, so I LOVE neem, and crab meals in that regard.
but I don't feed really (via water), my soil is enough, and I topdress a speck if needed, but typically I don't need much if anything.

those are some nice plants, I do see a lil room for some quality LSTing to get those lower colas around the same height though, i'd do that for sure.
Thanks man, I really do need to LST them indeed. I'm a bit apprehensive about this since my last LST resulted in losing some branches. Still, I'd like to have an even canopy, so I will probably take the risk :-)

So I just super cropped the plants and this is the result. Every branch survived  They finished their stretch, and now it's time to start packing on those pistils & calyxes :weed:

DSCN0871.JPG I was able to lower the 400w Lamp which is now only about 8" off the canopy.

View attachment 3314990 Looks like they got hit with a weed-whacker (pun-intended) We're about 2 wks in and fuzzy pistils are everywhere :eyesmoke:
looks good, that's probably more of a medium stress training though...:bigjoint: I normally like to not bend them if possible, at least not like a actual "bend" in the plant, more like a gradual "leaning", your way works fine, it'll just slow it down a speck the next five days or so, some strains don't slow at all, the bluedream I have doesn't seem to mind at all, when I put that chica outside I prep her beforehand by crunching ALL the stems throughout the vege time, if for no other reasons than to slow the lady down and let the stems thicken, and I vege with a MH too, so it's not spindly... but the BD likes to stretch about 250% after triggering, so to prep for that, the stems got be beefy.
But for flowering I like to be gentle to them, you are still early so you'll be alright, but next time if you do that during flowering i'd go a lil more gentle.
They look great by the way, you are gonna have some nice flowers

Thanks for the advice bro ! Last time I did this about 30% of the branches just snapped right off. The strain was Lemon Kush, and they had Zero plasticity in them - I lost a few good prime colas. This was simpler to do than actual LST and it took me like 5-10 minutes. Luckily my current strains have very pliable stems, so this time it was a breeze  TBC...

maybe give them some silica too, may help them recover faster

We also have pure Afghani (99% sure it's a she) which I am going to top & veg for 4 weeks in my trusty CFL box while the buds ripen in the flowering room. Soon as I harvest, the Afghani will get a transplant and will be placed under the Halide Lamp. I will veg until she takes up the entire space and then flower her. She is slow as a seedling, but the smell is pure Afghani Hashish, very dank and stinky. Going to see how big I can grow her under the 400w Lamp.

DSCN0875.JPG It took them little time to recover from the training. I was able to lower the lamp and now have a more even light-distribution over the canopy. Can't wait to see them a month from now :weed: - Foreground : Hindu Kush (prob male) and Afghani (prob female) guarding the main crop, while another Sleestack Skunk (prob female) is tucked in out of sight. Soon as they show sex, I will transplant the females accordingly. I will leave the dude in the 20oz party cup as that works fine for males. Hopefully, I can get some seeds out of this run-

Well I'm a little surprised - the Hindu Kush I thought was a male showed pistils yesterday. I'm running out of space under my Lamp, so I am considering moving her into my small veg box and topping @ the 4th node. She will grow on 16/8 and I'm expecting to keep her in there for about a month - (until I harvest my flowering room). Then I will simply transplant and move the well-established girl under the HID Lamp and veg her another 4-6 weeks before flowering again :-P
