Organic silicone??????

Trying to go as organic as i can, but have no idea how i can replace the sillicon i was previously using, shall i just go without or are there organic options?????

How would one go about using these? Turn them into a flour? Top dress/mix in with soil? Compost tea?

Mix with soil. Acts like perlite or pumice as well

I mix in some ricehulls and use it as mulch layer. Get it from brewing stores but call ahead. Sometimes they need to specially order bulk amounts because they don’t want to sell out for their regulars.

Thanks @pahpah-cee and @Jjgrow420 for the replies. I think I’m going to add some as a mulch for the final pots on my current round. May even try turning some into flour for a compost tea or try sprinkling it into the holes at transplant.

Don’t forget to pick up some malted barley from the brewery store and top dress it as well.

Interesting idea. Would the malted barley provide benefits that a barley sprouted seed tea wouldn’t?

Nope, looks like you already got it covered. I just too dress because I’m lazy and don’t want to make teas.

Elevated levels of arsenic, lead and cadmium....and other heavy metals.

Vermiculite is a source of silica. It takes a bit to break down and become available.

Using actual dirt can also provide silica, depending on the dirt.

Green sand?

I've never used the tuff, but the rice hulls I have and still do use. I get mine from them, but they're local to me.

That's a crock if you use feed grade for animals or made for human consumption, food grade. DE made for water filtering swimming pools might but is not the proper kind to use for plants or pest control either.
