Recently I had a brown slime problem in my DWC. I went to the hydro store to pick up some Hydrozyme. When I arrived I was talking to one of the employees about my problems and he asked me what kind of nutes i was using. I told him Buddha Grow and he responded saying "I heard that some organic nutrients cannot be used in a DWC". I was like damn, to say the least. Has anyone else heard this? The reasoning he gave me made perfect sense. He was mostly talking about a fermentation problem that occurs because of some of the ingredients. I am going to switch to Pure Blend Pro most definitely, there is no way I am putting my babies through this again, it should work perfectly.
So what do you guys think? Is this one of those nasty rumors?
i just switched from botanicare... they are good but switching to house and garden i am a big fan. ph is almost right on all the time

Dude use hydrogen peroxide 1 tsp per 5 gal. should do it. Do this every two weeks.

I know this is a very old thread, but I wanted to say that Nectar of the Gods is a organic water soluble complete nutrient line that you can also use in DWC's or dirt.

have you used it in dwc? does the res get funky after a week or so?

I've used it in DWC with great success. I run no tills now but my last DWC with it, I would clean it out about once a week. There was a little foam pretty much like there is when you make a tea, but no real funk. I do completely wash my buckets once a week as well, so that could be a reason for no funk. I can say that I had absolutely zero burn or deficiencies which was really good in a DWC even with me feeding pretty heavily. There was no salt buildups which is great.
I actually so so copied the recipe for my no till in dry amendment form so I wouldnt have to keep buying the line. If you know how to make your own teas and making dry amendments water soluble, you can get the same results that way which is much cheaper. You gotta grind them up into powder and basically mix them with water and molasses and aeration for 1-5 days to creating a bounded solution which you can then use by mixing in with your DWC res.
You can also do it a little differently if you have time by not grinding your amendments and instead putting them in a worm bin with a drain and then catching the runoff that drains out and simply using that. This will set you up for years worth of nutrients you can use for any grow setup for very little cost.
The amount you use is up to you. I will use about half tap water mixed with half solution and get pretty good results. If I'm using no till, I'll just pour 100% solution straight on to water. The solution if built with a good amount of dolomite lime, should also be buffered to some extent to a ph of 7. If you like your solution buffered, you may need to add more dolomite lime every few months or more or less depending on the size of your container.
