Hello michael, welcome to RIU. You have a great space but you defintly have a ways to go to have things working properly.
If you replace the 1000MH get T5s' either way your going to need venting.
    you livin in southern O?

95f is not a problem. But if you plan to run those lights set to that height, and horizontal, with little pots and little plants, you have an extremely innefficient and massively wasteful setup. You may find yourself paying almost as much as buying the weed retail just in electric.

You are wasting probably 90% of your lights power. It'll work, but you will be lucky to yield what a good grow setup can give with just 2kw. I pulled over 6lbs with my last 2kw 6 plant vertical setup, soil only, no co2 or nothing and it will be very hard for you to beat that even though you have 3x the lights and 3x or more plants and 3x as much watering etc to do.

Look into vertical lighting. Your electric bill is going to get fatter than your plants.

absolutly correct. but like MJ said, he started the whole thing with little input as to what/how to do things. I wish I had the $$ to throw around like that. He will refine things real soon.

MJ, you should have started at this site first. The good thing is now you are here, asking questions.

thanks guys for the input, I have brought the lights in closer from 4' too2.6' appart and put them on ratcheting rope pullys, got some flex 8" tubing for the sealed light cooling system from the grow shop, and built a couple flood tables in the bud rm, now as for the lights you were a little unclear. I will look into the vetical light setup. caz I really don't have that much cash to throw around the credit cards are almost maxxed at this point. I am around Salem. MJ

I hear you. I've been there. Looks like your getting things moving along real fast. You have a great space to work with and it sounds like you have a handel on things. You have the lights already so no need to look at vertical now. I think that was in regards to how your setup was looking at the time. Now that you have tables and light hight controll it's not important. Good luck and wishing you a great grow and harvest.

Even with tables I would change some stuff seriously unless you have money to burn.
Vertical lighting is about twice as efficient as horizontal from my direct experience, and even with that set up as best as humanly possible in a horizontal grow you can never even come close to what vertical can do.

I say this because I've been there, and I have had your electric bill. That bill is going to hurt big time if you aren't on a good electric plan.

If you are going to stay with that setup you should seriously contact PGE or whoever your electric comany is and change to a different rate plan. You can switch to off peak grow and rates to where you can cut the bill by 3/4 but you need to know that now and change it now if you are staying with this plan.

I don't remember what it's called, but there are different electric plans you can get on where you are billed per time of day at lower rates then you can crank 6kw in off peak hours and it will cost you 1/4 of what it would cost otherwise.

Please for your own sake either change your grow, or change your electric plan now, before you get it in the ass when the bill comes.

Damn must be getting late this is my third try at posting a reply!!! thanks Caz & OM for the input, I will look into the rate thing with the elect. co. and I have been doing some typing on this, each time its getting shorter, been burning these plants from the very beginning I had a freind over last night and I am added this ph down to my 5 gal of nutes at 1/2 streanth just put my second cap full in and tested it and still around 7ph, he goes dude wait, I add a cap to my 50 gal and it drops it quite a bit, so we tested the meter again and says this cant be right, so took it to the grow store they messed with it for a while and gave me a new one and tested it for me. so went home tested that bucket 2.2 ph no wonder those ones in the rockwool died, but the Sharks Breath are doing great??? you think I'll get a more LSD high from the SB's from all that acidic mix's, should'nt they be dead. have been flushing them sence. OM my daughter just gave me T-shirt that says "mess with Me!! you mess with the whole trailer park!!"

Bummer about the meter. It's always a good idea to have some calibration liquids around to test and calibrate your meter often. You sould realy work on getting a more even canopy going. Like OM says your waisting light (power). Good or bad electric plan either way there is no need to throw $$ out the vent (waist power).

Cool, I like the tshirt. My sig popped to mind after I started to use the Walter White/Breaking bad avitar and happened to be listening to Beck's song looser, boom they fit perfectly together.

If your tap water is half ok like mine 9off by just a point ot two) you can just stop fucking with the PH stuff alltogether and use it as is, or switch to collecting rainwater from your gutters, route a hose from a gutter into a barrel or big trash can inside.

Yup had the testers but of coursethe guy at the grow shop said just make sure your 7ph is on so bought a big bottle of 7ph and small one of the 4ph. the tap water here is 7 too 6.8, I now have 5 plants under the HPS. while at the grow shop picked up a T-5 8 tube light for the veg room and is it ever cool, added the mh too the bud rm, we now have a row of 5 lights was going to go HPS, MH, HPS, MH, HPS, special HPS, moving the plants down the row every two weeks, some day hope to go hydro, when I figured out what I am doing. Beck is good. MJ

The pH liquids are a must for the meter. T-5's are great for cloning and small veging plants. reduced heat and plenty of light when used close to the plants. Once you know your water and fert pH, there is no need to use the meter with soil. Soil buffers nicely as long as things aren't wat off. Use the meter when making a different nute solution to test, then your good again.

OM - I'm not sure about this idea for indoors unless you can filter very well. Seems to me an easy way to introduce critters and mold spores.? have you tried this before?

i know many out door gardeners who collect rain all year in huge barrels so they dont have to use pay for the use of 100 or more gallons a day, and they never had a prob with any of those things, if it were bad to use i would think mother nature would not want her plants watered with it. and i also know that those out doors growers also use the rain indoors, i used rain water indoors for awhile but decide why try to catch water when it comes out of the sink just fine:bigjoint:

Obviously rainwater is fine to use growing outdoors. Indoor growing is a bit different as you know. If you don't keep things clean and you keep brining things form the outside in, your asking for more trouble. That's all I'm saying. Have you ever had spider mites, fungus gnats, thrips, whitefly, twospotted mites, aphids....? there a bitch and it's hard enough to keep them out of the indoor growroom without bringing unfiltered roof water runoff inside. It's loaded with all sorts of fungus and bugs!

Hey, I'm in curry and am a legal patient as well. Waikiki Queen, Sour Diesel, Hawaiian seeds here. Maybe Blackberry Kush if you're lucky, I have very few of these left. Yeah there are 3 dispensaries that I know of in Coos Bay/ North Bend area. Also in Coquille, Bandon, Port Orford, Gold Beach. I know that Brookings has a meeting place for patients only, they are keeping it legit, where they meet and share info. just after you get your license to try to help you become self sufficient, and at times there are killer strain clones avail. to get you going. I would love to give a strain and shop review, but I would not want to upset anyone. Take a day trip to hit them all up to see and taste for yourself. Enjoy

i have not read through the whole thread being i just noticed it, i have read some. that said, i do have a question or two. i qualify easily enough, whats/where is the best route to get a card? the benefits? (in the portland/gresham area.) also, can a patient be a caretaker as well? i would assume so, but i am unclear on the subject.
