You wouldn't need two DE.
And I've read issues with solis ballast and rf/emi no matter wtf anyone here says, I o wn two myself, they've been retired as old tech.
If you're worried about rf/emi then the digital hydrofarm phantoms (the old tech not the DE) are the only ballast with an fcc rating but still there's room for rf leak all the way to the socket.

You should really look at a sun systems lec 315, I've never seen 315 watts go so far.

Oh you must have changed your mind , I saw a 5by5 tent listed. In that case I'm not sure, you're probably better off with conventional HID and the 2 600s . Not sure which is cheaper but if you'll look at galaxy ballasts, they may be cheaper than solis which is the same thing with a different name.

Make it even cheaper and less detectable (although quality of light and power will take a hit) just go with mag ballasts and there will be no rfi/emi.

I found a secret jardin 8x4 on Craigslist for 300. Im goin to check it out monday. I'd rather the extra room to try and get a larger harvest. I will check out the galaxy. I def don't want mag ballast. Just my preference. Thanx for the help Db.

that tent is way expensive I got this one and was blown away by the quality. I didnt expect something so nice for that cheap. very heavy material. light and air tight. When I turn my charcoal filter on the sides of the tent suck in if the vents are not open. The picture does no justice. The draw strings are doubled up on every port. Even if it is a bit better do you really think your results will be much different. cant be much of a difference on PAR. JMO. I think starting off with some quality digis and down the road I can try to upgrade to de. I'm sure the tech will be much more advanced. Right now I want to get this goin so I CAN LEARN TO LISTEN TO THE PLANTS. CANT WAIT.

i know u are planning on not going with DEs for now but i did notice someone recommend an air cooled reflector for the DE bulb. be very careful with direct cooling on DE bulbs. its cools the bulb too much and reduces output.

This is why you regulate the temperature with a fan speed controller.

OK peeps trying to pick an electrician and then i will be ordering. i have already received my ducting, smart pots, blue lab pH and ppm pens, and my nutes (botanicare pure blend grow and bloom, liquid karma, zho, and cal-mag). I have jumped around a bunch on this but i think this is my final set of products i plan to order.

I know thats a lot of tent for 2 1000s. i only planned on doing 6-8 plants in there. i was also thinking if need be down the road i can get some light movers(i was actually thinking it would be a smart idea). I still need timers, possibly a small intake fan, organic bag soil, and clones. Let me know peeps what yall think. this is it. no more changng around(unless yall change that hehe). thank u all for your patience and help. BTW my ppm meter reads my water at 0. does that mean my water is great? i threw some nutes in some different water and it shot up to 1400. please let me know thanx again!

If you are gonna spend good money like you are I would get bigger footprint hoods. I have the same size hoods in a 4x8 tent and wish I got something with a 36" - 40" X 28"-32" If you really wank to drop some money then i WOULD LOOK INTO THE NEW sPECTRUM kING 400SERIES. gROWERS ARE GETTING 1.8 GRAMS PER WATT Sorry about the caps! Thanx old soul. I would like in the future to expand and incorporate other types of lighting. I think the idea of lights that don't produce as much heat as HIDS is the future of growing however, because I'm a noob I'm sticking to KISS and what's proven. Experimentation will come later!:peace:

Bu thanx about the hoods and their footprint. I will have to do some research. I read a fairly high score for them on greners.com on a reflector comparison. I will have to go reread it.
