Hey guys, just looking for some input. I leave for a 8day vacation out of town starting tomorrow, but I noticed the start or orange hairs. How long after the hairs start to turn do I need to harvest.I know its when about 80% are orange, the question is more how long typically/on average does it take after the first initial start of the color change to reach 80%. My buddy will be watching them, should I show him how to harvest? Its only 2girls.

Sweet deal... Should I start flushing yet? There auto flowers and it said 60-68 days from germ to harvest. And today marks day 60. Its a auto blue pyramid

I wouldn't. But then i also wouldn't flush at all, i did for a year, and then stopped, and noticed absolutely no difference in the quality of the bud. Never bothered worrying about flushing again.

yes start to flush and flush well. you cant flush too much. only time you dont need to flush is when you start growing full organic. also you dont harvest according to hair color. buy a scope if you dont already have one and pay close attention to the trics. the trichomes will tell you when to harvest.

also keep this in mind: when you think theyre done, wait a week

This is utter nonsense.

Your last statement also seems contradictory. If you have to wait a week after you think they are done then the trichomes clearly didn't tell you when to harvest.

When you grow organic you do not have excess salt/nutrient build up from chemical nutes so what is there to flush? plus if you are using a complete organic soil and only adding plain water to your plants throughout the grow, what are you going to do? flush all that plain water out with more water? think about it. duh

As for my last statement in that post lots of newer growers, like the OP here, tend to think that their plants are done before they really are. so even when looking at the trichs they may believe that their plants are ready even when they still have some time to go. by being just a little more patient they can get that extra potential from their plants just so long as they do not start to reach degridation

I will agree on the latter, although i still prefer just to teach when it's done, instaed of saying give it another week. But i cannot and will not agree with the first statement.

I have never grown organic. I spent a year flushing every plant because "that's what you have to do", and then spent 2 years not flushing anything. Every harvest was identical to the flushed. If there were salt buildups, who cares, because it did not effect my harvests in any noticable way whatsoever. My opinion of it is like having a home raid array on your computer for web browsing, it might be statistically faster, but the real world results are utterly indistinguishable from a single drive. Your use of the word "need" indicates a requirement, there is absolutely no requirement to flush no matter the nutes or growing medium.

My short answer to flushing, is that half do, and half dont, and the argument is continuously debated. If flushing made such a noticeable difference, there would be no argument or debate. So far as i am concerned, from my own experience, and many others, it is a myth. Yet another exmapple of people trying to turn growing weed into rocket science. There are 1001 tricks for growing "better weed" and the truth is you don't have to follow any of them to grow said better weed.

What kind of store would have a 20x magnifying glass?
Most stores will sell fancy scopes. Best bet is to look for a joulers loupe. Can be had for muhch cheaper. If you look on eBay you can find them for a couple of dollars, With lots of magnification options, and also little lights if you want one. The issue with a scope is that you really have to cut budnor leaves off and place them on a firmnsurface so yoku can focus. Not many stores will sell them in a given area, so I think really best to just buy it off eBay.

Went to the local head shop and bought a 60x Harvest Expert scope. was not bad $30.

Checked the trichomes and they are tiny, and completely clear.. guess i was worried for no reason. Just thought i would run out of time before i got home.

I got 2 jeweler's loupes off of amazon. A 30x and a 60x, both are lighted and they were only a couple bucks each. I paid a total of like 5.50 USD, including shipping.

i have an active eye 40x scope. they also make a 100x but i havent picked it up yet. there is a focusing dial right where you hold it so fine tuning to focus while youre looking at the plant while it is still growing is not an issue and you wont have to butcher your ladies

and not to beat a dead horse anymore but if you ever listen to any interviews with soma, kushman, dj short, or other pro breeders/growers they always say flush, flush, flush. it cant hurt and i would trust those dudes
