Opinions Please!!!!!!!!!!

My first trial run will consist the following.. 4 plants starting from seed, 2 part peat, 1 part vermiculite, 1 part perlite for mix, MG organic choice concentrate for food, 4 cfl 26w 6500k and 1 cfl 55w 2700k for vegetation, 3-4 of the 55w 2700k for flowering and all in an area no bigger than 4' high 3' wide and 2' deep!

Ive based this on a lot of conflicting research, I would just like to know if i would be waisting my time with this set up?

Thanx in advance, SoHi

That depends a little on when you flower.

My suggestion is that you Vegetate your plants for 25 from seed. Top you plants after the second node, and be sure to have at least 1 week to recover from that. Hopefully you can top on day 18 and begin flowering on day 25. Sex should show in the next 9 days and you might get 2 female plants to keep. So by day 35 you have two plants just now set into flowering. Take 8 weeks, <60 days, from that point and that's when you harvest (hopefully). Finished height of the plants is going to be no more than 2 feet, hopefully closer to 16 inches. Aim for about 1 ounce per plant and be happy if you get more. 60 grams isn't a great harvest, but you'll learn a lot your first time around and if everything goes just great, with really good genetics, you could probably pull closer to 100 grams.

Aim low and be happy if you get more than you expect. Incorporating an extra 10 days to accomplish a little LST work could increase your yield by 25% probably. Just depends on your time frame and needs.

I was figuring on there only being two maybe three females ;]
Thanks, i was actually aiming lower with the last minute light setup, but I feel more confident that I will be able to keep them contained to a lower height than I have ever had outdoors!
What scares me is the topping, doing too much, not enough, too soon, or not soon enough.. But I think I'll do alright!

Topping is pretty scary the first time you do it. Then you see them respond and suddenly it's not some mystic exercise. Totally easy to do, you'll figure it out, just take a look at the how to's and you'll be fine.

You don't have to top. It was just what I would do. Some people might suggest that LST is enough to keep the plant short, and I agree. The key to working with CFL bulbs is keeping the source of light as close to the bud sites and the plant as possible. Topping the plant and LST will create a kind of balance where you can place your bulbs strategically between branches (basically inside the plant) so that the circular shape of the bulb can be used to maximize efficiency. Otherwise you're really only getting half the energy from the bulb while the other half is either reflected at a lower strength or lost altogether.

Keep looking at the training method stuff. You'll figure out something that should work for you. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get it right. No where to go but up from the first grow.

Thanks for your help, mainly looking to save me some money long term and also looking forward to learning some new things!

why dont you just get a 150 watt hps there only about $70 on amazon and will be well worth it, your weed will be more potent and you will get a bigger yield for sure. check out my sig im using a 150 watter and i works great, you can also throw the cfl's in there to for extra lighting and you will definitely get your money's worth.

I am going HPS as soon as I get into a bigger space. Im waiting mainly becouse I want to go with a minimum of 400HPS and audjustable CFL's I can put inside the plants during flowering while running LED's on the walls throughout the process! For right now I'm utilizing a very small space and mostly wanting to get the indoor experiance with a couple small units. that way if I do decently well with the bare essentials then I know I can rock a big garden without waisting the money. Its pretty much a trial and error run right now.

However I'm pretty excited so far, within 4 days of starting germination I already 1" seedlings. And unlike my outdoor mids these are looking good and dard and thick stalks to boot!
