Opinions about smoked CBD

Hi everyone. For the past year I've been interested in high CBD strains and I've managed to snag a few. I have two strains with 1:1 ratios of THC to CBD, and two with (≈0):1 THC to CBD. I suffer from anxiety disorder and ADD so I was excited to add CBD to my medication cocktail. I take Ritalin almost daily but it makes me more anxious and I feel like it makes me more social but less sociable. In order to counter the anxiety I've taken Zoloft in the past but it makes me zombie-like, with little desire for pleasure or excitement. My internet research has suggested that CBD (devoid of any THC) has been effective at alleviating symptoms of social anxiety as well as some symptoms of ADD, so I'm very interested in nailing down how best to use it.

But... the effects aren't what I've expected
When I've smoked harlequin or some 1:1 lemon cheese cake it's still made me stoned enough to completely fuck my memory. I've found that smoking a smaller-than-my-usual bowl relaxes me without stoning me too much, but I'm still too stoned to go to work or finish projects.
After smoking the 0:1 THC:CBD stuff I definitely feel more relaxed, my thoughts are less numerous, and I feel more emotionally connected to whatever has my attention. In groups my internal dialogue is far less concerned with being judged by others, and I am more decisive about what I want to do and say.

This all seems good but I feel like there are some drawbacks, which make me wonder if the low THC strains are really what they say that are: I still get an appetite after smoking, I still feel kind of stoned but I don't regress into my internal dialogue as much. I think it still negatively affects my short term memory (I'll still walk into a room and forget what I was looking for as if I'm high), and even in combination with Ritalin I still feel lazy.

I have noticed that for a good 20 minutes I'm extra focused, I'm relaxed, and I'm much more content with the present than normal, and its much easier to meditate. But if these symptoms were the equivalent of being high, this high lasts for about 20 minutes. Then I feel as stoned as I would feel coming down from any weed.
This makes me wonder about the metabolism of CBD.Is CBD broken-down faster than THC? Doesn't it break down to CBN just like THC? Isn't CBN psychoactive? Does anyone know if CBN is responsible for the stoney, slow-descent feeling after the best part of one's high?

If anyone has CBD experience I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks.

As far as i know cbn is a degradation of thc and not necessariy involved in the metablic breakdown pathway of thc or cbd as the liver works on it. What I do know is that the different terpenes and other cannabinods can have a profound effect on the effect and duration. I suggest exploring different strains with various levels of CBD and type of highs. I grow Sour Tsunami #3 for some of my patients and they use it as a pain and an anti-anxiety med. Its a very high cbd low thc strain. I also provide a 1:1 Cannatonic strain which gives a peacefull, no paranoia god like high. Both are sativas and great daytime active meds.
