I had gophers pretty bad when I moved to my new house 4 years ago. I tried the smoke bombs and what have you. Nada. Got 2 spring traps and wore their ass out. It got pretty fun. Probe around the dirt pile they expell above the surface till you find their main run then set a trap for both directions. Usually within an hour you have one caught or he filled your trap up with dirt and you need to reset.

I caught 6 in about a week and haven't had any since.

That's exactly what I was doing. My dog and I were gopher hunting maniacs last night. We got four, an adult and three juveniles. I'm sold for life on those traps, every hit was within an hour of setting the trap.

I did put 4 more pots in their holes. 3 of 4 Hurricane Head seeds are sprouted. They may have been a little young for full sun, but it was my last chance to deal with them before Monday. My garden at home is too clean to keep any weed around for more than a day or two. But have no fear, it will soon be a weedy mess where I could hide a couple dozen plants.

So I was bitching about gophers earlier. Smoke bombs and road flares did nothing, gopher didn't give a shit. Finally a $7 spring trap got it within an hour of setting. My ferocious dog finished it off. She's now gotten 2.5 gophers this spring, this one only counts for half since I did most of the work :bigjoint:.View attachment 3936643
I fucking hate gophers lol, I don't have to deal with them anymore tho thankfully, just rabbits.

Consider getting a cat lol, there pretty ferocious hunters, my cat YG catches at least one bunny a day.

Neighborhood cats have been getting gophers, just not the ones causing me trouble. My dog has proven herself to be a decent gopher hunter, a couple nights ago she was off checking out the perimeter, I heard some leaves rustling and then she comes back with one in her mouth.

When I was younger, my mom had a cat that we found as a kitten living in the bushes outside our house. That cat was the best gopher, and rabbit, hunter I've seen, we never had an infestation when he was around.
