Open or Contained Growroom Opinions please?

I have an extra bedroom I would like to grow my one plant maybe two in. I don't have money to line to whole bed room with reflective material plus I think it would be a waste of many to line a whole 12x10 room for one or two plants lol! would it be efficient enough to use reflective material in just a corner of the room. Or should I build a small room within the room and line that. I used to use my closet for a grow area but even with fans my 250 hps would heat it up to 90+ in the summer. So I decided I have a whole room to work with, with open ventilation and not so contained in a small area. I dont want to decrease my yield because I dont have reflectivity on one side. But I dont want to fry my plants eaither. Any Ideas? Please! :bigjoint:

Maybe grow in a corner of your room so you can utilize the 2 corner wall and paint them flat white. Are you going to have to worry about light going out of the windows?

Try the corner of the room with white paint as suggested.
You can get a roll of mylar and make one or two free standing frames for it, sort of like an old-style floor mirror. Staple the mylar to the frame, and you have movable reflective walls. I use this in my room, works perfect.

The room itself is great, Two plants, Not so much. If your super strapped for cash then your options are more limited. I use a rather large garbage can and it has 3x100w HPS lamps inside. You cannot control intake/exhaust in an open environment as well as a sealed chamber. I use physics and simplicity to keep it cool. If you keep your exhaust the same size as your intake heat should never be an issue. I have two 4" intake holes at the very bottom and two 4" exhaust fans on top of the lights. When the door is closed it turns into a virtual wind tunnel letting zero heat fall to the plants. It doesn't take power or high CFM to keep things cool, Just well played equalized environments.

I've seet ghetto grows where they used white printer paper scotch taped to cardboard panels for reflective walls. Not a half bad idea I gotta say.

im with the corner of the room idea. if you can look on craigslist for a 2x2 tent you can probably find one for $60-80 but if you are a DIY guy then grab a couple peices of plywood and put up two walls to make a small corner room. just make sure in the night cycle there is no light leaking in! paint em white and cut a couple holes for intake/exhaust. if it were me and i had windows in the corner i wouldnt cut holes in the plywood i would just use the windows to circulate the air with some fans. Well I got a shitload of that mylar covered bubble wrap car windshield insulation stuff that I used in my closet grow room so I plan on using that. I have no problem painting the walls either but this stuff works well. I gotta about a lb off of a jock horror grow just using 250hps and for CFLz Supplemental lighting. It's just the heat and I even have a squirral cage exhaust fan and four oscillating fans and That closet still was fucking hot as shit. I really wish I could do more plants but I dont think you can really do more then 2 with 250hps. And Im acctually doing black jack And I would like those temps to get low so I can get the purple hue that the black jack tends to get. Jock Horror Is a great smooth smoke too but doesnt have a appealing taste. Uh oh im rambling. Back to the grow room.....So I think Im probably just going to setup a corner slightly contained. another question though. I have my Air cooled hood mounted with eye hooks and chain in my closent from a soild wood shelf but any body have any Ideas on how to mount this thing from a roof in a modular home? I dont think theres rafters in these kinda homes. Oh and light leaks is not a problem I've made a plug for my window. Ventalation and the heat is most of my worrys. Oder...Well I love my home fumigating with the scent of herb. Plus Im LEGAL so I dont worry about those things really.

what size is your aircooled hood? 250w shouldn't get too hot and i'm wondering if you should just go with a 600w with an aircooled hood so you dont need to worry about getting 2 of everything for the 250w's. you need a decent CFM rated fan to get that hot air out. 188cfm and up should work. try to vent it out the window if possible cuz it will make the room very hot

It's a 6" XtraSun I only have a 250w ballest right now so I gotta do with that for now. The Squirrel cage is rated at 250CFM or 200 cant remember. One of those though!
