Only getting 3-4g off two fire indoor OZ....HELP!

Hey guys, Hope Everyone Is Doing Well...I started making my own BHO, I cook with It a lot, mainly gummies, I Have A lot of extra nugs laying around so i figured might as well making my own stuff..anyway,


Ive been using 5x refined butane,
2oz Of Very Nice Nugs (Indoor)
Also ran two 300ml cans of butane per ONE OZ
Kept my material frozen also for 24 hours




I only ended yielding about 3g..Mayyybe 4g..Can some please help me out here?

like i replied to the othee thread youp posted yesterday I have a hunch your material isnt nearly as dry as it could be.

While a strain may look great, that doesn't mean instant high yields. Trichrome head size has a lot to do with yield, and the amount of "oil" that fills those heads.

I've pulled 7 grams off an oz of sour diesel that looked good not great. Same pheno of sour diesel a few months later yielded 4 grams per oz and it looked a lot better than the one that pulled 7. The 7 gram oz was taken at 77 days, while the 4 was only 70.

Okay I'm new to this so il try my best to explain my process...I used 2 ounces of nice sky walker OG indoor, which I broke up into popcorn nugs,I put the material in the freezer for 3 days, I used a 19x2 glass tube...I took the material right out of the freezer and into the tube. Tied on my 50micron screen with a zip tie, and blasted into a Pyrex. I actually used 3 cans of 5x vector butane. After blasting, I water purged for 15min, putting one Pyrex into another with hot water. Then brought inside, put oil onto parchment paper, then vacuum purged at 110-100 degrees...only yielded 3-4g???

I still kept the material, I'm going to run it again tonight,

I find with my glass tube that is 2" around I get lower yields than my current method. and I have to use much more butane with the bigger diameter tube.

right now I just use a small glass or aometimes stainless tube (like half inch) to blast butane into a jar then I fill to.just below liquid level with plant material. in the summer I have to poke a small hole in the lid as to not over pressurize. there are other steps but that gives.you an idea of how I do it.

Forget tubes: soak your herb in the butane via the jar method. You freezer your butane: it will stay liquid for 20+ mins, and youll double your yield at least. Also, avoid the 5x or any x "refined" butane. Its a lie; theres no regulation so its usually just cheap oil filled butane. Do a clean plate test with whatever you use and be sure it fully evaporates before you make an extract. I've gotten 5g of contaminate from "5x refined" before. Usually less, but always some.

What CM said. One inch is closer to optimum. Smaller would be better, except it is too hard to load and unload.

300mg/oz is a reasonable ratio for extracting ambient material, but may be a little low for frozen material and chilled butane. You can tell when to quit by the color and by the sticky test. Stick your finger in the stream and test how sticky it gets when it evaporates dry.

You can check the spent material afterwards for undissolved heads with a microscope, to see how you're doing.

if you are open blasting, you should grind that shit up.... running nugs you kinda want a closed column setup, give the butane time to penetrate the buds n dissolve the trichs. Same reason they suggest smaller diameter tube, it leads to more butane hitting more bud for more time....

I hate how long I used several open blast extractors before I dropped the like $100 on a closed column from bestvaluevacs.... that valve allowing 15-30seconds of chilled butane before purging.... it doubled my yields....

As far as the refined butane thing.... no matter what you use or how clean its supposed to be.... just winterize afterwards w/ some 190proof alcohol, and you can filter all the baddies out, solvent and plant ones.... It adds like a week to production time, but its time well spent, I assure you.

Here's my process and I avg 10-15% return. Use super dry trim/flowers. Grind in food processor. Pack extraction tube tight. (smaller diameter tubes are better and I need to get one). Blast outside until runoff is clear. Take tube and empty. Mix up the ground material by hand and feel for stickiness. If sticky refill and pack the tube. Blast one more time. Maybe if I get a smaller diameter tube I wont need to run the same material twice, but this works well for me and I always get a good return.

Just be safe. A lot of people are giving BHO a bad rap because of explosions etc.. Be smart and you will stay safe.
