One simple question.

I have 2 batches of bagseed grown one being grown all organic 3 being done with store bought nutes. There are alot of posts about breeding and why to breed and to be completely honest im not the most inteligent person out there, and there are a whole lot of big scienecy words and alot of things that i probably dont need or care to know. seeing as though one was a seed from from a buddys seed stash and the three others seperate plants are from seeds stored in a bottle knowing only that they were decent smoke(my seed stash) that i saved from.My reason for wanting to breed them has nothing to do with traits or genes and is just for the fact that i want something that i can call my own name my own name and say i made it.

My question-

Can i just collect pollen from a male and pollenate a female and bingo bango i have a female plant that will have seeds that are a mix of the two plants?
just like human conception right ? fertilize the egg with man spunk and create a baby thats a mix of the two parents.

If you aren't breeding for traits, you'll end up with a mutt, not to put too fine a point on it. You can't properly name it until you've backcrossed it often enough to make a stable cultivar. Sure, you can pollinate female weed plants and get seeds, but they'll have a variety of phenotypes. cn

So how do you properly cross two strains to get the best characteristics out of them?

grow out the males, pick the best of the bunch. and then do the same with the females. keeping in mind you'll grow hundreds of each before you arrive at something worth keeping. it's not a weekend project. it's a lifetime one.
