I planted a seed and it sprouted in a Y shape with 2 sets of cotyledons. Is that a common occurence at all? I can post pictures later.

You seem to have a polyploid. With extra chromosomes, the plants are basically larger and heartier than a seedling with a regular ploidity. These polyploids can also be much more potent than their regular siblings, but that's been contested recently.

nice! so what if this turns out to be a female and i take clonings from it.. do you think those will exhibit the same behavior at birth?

Clones are never really "born"... When you grow from a clone, consider it ADOPTION rather than birth :p. IE, it develops no Cotyledons, but full grown leaves.

Since clones are genetic copies of the parent, it would make sense that they're genetically identical.

this is interesting.. i wonder what this plant is gonna do. I'm gonna get some pics up here as soon as it emerges a little bit more.

Hmmm... That doesn't look like a polyploid to me... Usually they have 4 Cotyledons at about the same node. Who knows though, genotype disorders can manifest themselves in many different types of phenotypes.

Please take very good care of this plant, and see what it becomes.
