One Ballast for 2 lights???

So it flips 6 ballasts to control 12 lights? Remember we are suggesting 12 hour light cycles.. If that is the case economies of scale apply and having the ability to control 6 ballasts for $300 is a bargain.

Is there some way i could rig up my gear that would allow me to power two 1000w hps lamps off of my one ballast? It makes sense to me that i should be able to do it, two flowering rooms alternating which is using the ballast every 12 hours. I'd love to hear if anyone has tried this or even smartass comments telling me its not gonna work. Thanks guys and gals, good luck and happy growing!

Sorry, guess I should read the entire thread before responding. I missed the part of you wanting to do this automatically without actually moving the ballast. It can be done with a spdt relay, but it would have to be rated for really high voltages. In the alternative you could do this, but it would require manually relocating the ballast. Thats better than moving the entire unit.

Absolutely it can be done. You are going to put a socket in where the lamp cord is attached to the ballast housing. I used a C-13 computer power cord, and a C-14 panel mount computer power socket:



Just cut the lamp cord where it enters the ballast housing, and mount the C-14 socket on the ballast housing, and put the C-13 plug on the lamp wire. You can then have your lamp/reflectors in place, and need only unplug the ballast from the lamp/reflector to move it. You can then take it to your second room where you have the other lamp reflector and plug it in.
You can also get C-17 and C-18 connectors, the only difference is that the C-13 and 14 have 3 pins. You really dont need 3 pins for the lamp wire.

What you are asking for is not only possible but also available.

Thanks for that broad answer Mr250% lmao. I can't find anything online but sure they sell this stuff now... what product is it that your talking about? Is it in the ballast or do you have to buy an extra relay? thx in advance
 
This does work also need to do is get a relay box that allows two lamps to be powered by a single ballast the ballast connected to a flip box light controller operates continuously put it another way every 12 hours the flip box lighting controllers relay switch engages in the light cycles of the two blooming rooms alternate. Doing this myself for a couple years since I am in Maine and we get really cold winters February and March 2020 maximum yield magazine features an article about the advantages of recycling grow room heat. 9342A1D4-92FE-4BC1-9631-F2B5BDE19161.jpeg
