OAKLAND, Calif. — Federal agents have raided a San Francisco Bay area medical marijuana training school at the heart of California’s pot legalization movement.


The doors to Oaksterdam University in downtown Oakland were blocked Monday morning by U.S. marshals.


Agents from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration carted trash bags of unknown materials out of the school to a waiting van.


About a dozen protesters out front held signs demanding an end to federal crackdowns on medical marijuana.


Oaksterdam University was founded by Richard Lee, the main backer of the California ballot measure defeated in 2010 that would have legalized marijuana in the state for recreational use.


The school is in an Oakland neighborhood that has also been home to several medical marijuana dispensaries, including one founded by Lee.

I disagree, things that happen in Cali, will indirectly affect Michigan. Shit rolls downhill, it's still the same feds right.

Any time the feds are involved it is NOT good when it comes to MMJ.

Not defending the feds, but this Guy also had a dispensary. And the IRS was involved as well as the DEA....Just saying that you might want to wait for the whole story. Could be more about this Guy making huge money without claiming or paying taxes..just saying.

Anyone that thinks that there are ZERO criminals hiding behind the banner of medical mj is simply delusional. Anything that can make huge money attracts criminal involvement. Cannabis can generate huge money.

Again, my point is every body that gets busted ISN'T a martyr. Some are simply profiteers. And anytime profiteers are involved it is NOT good when it comes to mmj.

So....there is never a legitimate cannabis arrest when it involves the term "MEDICAL"? OR YOU GUYS KMOW WHICH ONES ARE GUILTY OR INNOCENT BEFORE ANY FACTS COME OUT?

Actually I was thinking the same as Bob, I am FOR THE PROTEST & these people out there upset.. But @ the same time we know NOTHING about the real issue, it could very well be one person who messed it all up by avoiding taxes or something in that manner.

I am sure the IRS were the main ones to push this, they just had the DEA & Feds do the labor. When dealing with that much $$$, it is easy to lose paperwork & tax info which is what they are most likely after.

Which is all I was saying when attacked by the crusaders..this fight is beyond the crusader stage..and into the activist phase..like get active in shaping the implementation of the law...instead of crusading for all things cannabis.

its called he took business tax credits they cant take....a MJ dispensary has no right to take any tax credits as a normal business does..no rent, no payroll, no business expenses...thats why the IRS gets involved..Auditing

MMJ patients does not = MMJ Clinics/Establishments. I doubt feds will be doing this to ppls homes any time soon unless foul play is @ hand.

I dont see how before your post everyone was taking sides as you say and so on. But you justify it every time first thing you make sure to say something justifying the leos action. EVERYTIME even before anyone even says anything about it being unjust or anything. That is the point in your eyes the cops have not made any mistakes or unjust arrests. You actually think the cops and courts are helping and that is just flat out wrong. I know there are people that were not within the law but you are so far the other direction it just makes me sick.

The State was not involved, why were the Feds? Oh, right US Marshals are now Tax Collectors with DEA backup. Where are the Governors on the 10th Amendment? Oh, they are in Washington begging for more Federal dollars.
