Old World Genetics - DJ Short

James Bean Company, seems to have current and the freshest stock of Dj and Second Generation genetics(JD).

That's one trait of the Blueberry and it's crosses, are the seeds always seem to be dark and Tiger striped.
I made some crosses with the blueberry ran in 2016 with a hellmint male (thinmint x 3chems) called 'thin blue chem' and they all came out super dark with dark dark stripes. A further mating of thin blue chem to a mimosa male did lighten the overall color but the dark tiger stripes and same patterns are still present, love these genetics and the "what's inside"

Grape Krush updates soon. The first one is at a month.

Sounds nice. I actually was planning on breeding the clown Royale with a stabilzed calypso from big worm and then making a bunch of crosses with some of Joti, Red Eye and Bodhi gear.

The blueberry seeds I got from dutch passion in 2002 were tiny. They looked more like poppy seeds, lol. Hands down the smallest seeds Ive popped to date.

New Berry #1 getting some weird foxtail action at 58days. Really trying to get that dark color to come out like they have in all their IG pics. This plant got one nanner at the top that was plucked after a couple days. Didn't look like any pollen came out but ya never know.

@Jd Short --what percentage of the girl plants get that dark blue/steel flower color in this line? Are these f1's? What generation are y'all at on your Blueberry? Any f5s you're playing with? Backcross plans? Thanks

A lot of time those pics are enhanced or use lighting tricks to achieve high contrast thus giving them more saturation. Also black backdrop.

I hear you on that but it's worth striving for :) I definitely see some of that blue tinge (almost iridescent) in mine. Not giving up, I'll keep trying some.

For sure man. Their is some crazy looking weed out there. I have some stuff right now that's Barney the dinosaur purple right ground up. I'm on the lookout for red right now.

You live in a warm or cold climate?

Hot! So this is all genetics on this one.

I've never had any red colored bud....but I've had some killing fields from Sanny that were bright pink and stood out quite a bit. I have some Vintage Pakistani sativa with bright red hairs all over, bud is darker green.

Grape Krush Throwback

#4

I lost track of days but 2-4 weeks in, last in line after her sisters.

Looks like #3 only in how new flowers form.

Startling is how I would describe the flower formation in that they almost appear to be stacking balls. #4 & #3 both have this trait.
This is only an aesthetic thing as when looking closer it's how the new growth clusters, looks scary until you realize it ISN'T balls... whew.

This one appears to have more vigor than the #3 and shares a similar leaf structure overall if a bit thinner.

Well shit I intended to post them in order that they entered into flower, didn't take long to screw that up so we'll go backwards by labeling.

Grape Krush Throwback

#3

(if i had to chose today, it'd be this one)

This gal gave me a startle with the first to show that ball cluster looking new growth flower formation that I mentioned in the previous post.
I thought it was going hard intersex/herm on me, but it's just the way she stacks.

I was unfortunate to not get to flower grape krush in the past when it was held in my circles but this reminds me of what I was hoping to find back then. Something unique and yet reminiscent of the photos of the blue and oldtime moonshines.

This one is laden with trichs. Smells sweet sweet sweet, it basically smells like bluedream earth.

This lady is the furthest along of her sisters.
The next a week later and on and on..

#1

(campfirekrush)

Smells of smoldering campfires, burning spices, little bit of sweet n sour, lots of burning earthy-ness.

This photograph does not show it but she has the most vigor of the bunch. She yellows out before the others and if would have been left untrimmed the tallest. Tops in root development.

This one would make hardy plants, if the flavor is appealing and the potency is there she's in contention.

damn I can't even keep track of what I'm doing one post to the next...

completely out of order and last but not least..

Grape Krush Throwback

#2

Blue Steel was mentioned in a thread, maybe this one. That's what comes to mind when I look at this gal.

Decent overall, smells a little less loud but similar to the bluedreamy sweet #3.

Has a silver foxy look to her, very 'sage' in appearance but not smell just has that 'white' silverwashed look going on.

Classy. I wouldn't be upset if this was all I found but wouldn't be my top pick of the lot.

These were freebies from James Bean co from a few years ago.
Thanks JD and DJ for everything and thanks James Bean co for the absolutely killer freebies and for giving a nostalgic grower another shot at some old school grape krush genetics.

Grape Krush Throwback #3

Pretty girl, sour wines and sweet berries, reminds me of a pear wine. Has some earthy funk down there but the sweets are strong on this one. The other 3 do not have as sweet a terp profile, more earth.

This one came down @ 68days grown 1gallon of too dense coco (I've since been amending with perlite with some observable success)

Just read the whole thread. Super excited to grow some DJ genetics. I’ve got 2 beans started of FLO, Velvet Krush, and First Light.

I have Blueberry F5, but will grow out the whole pack.

Newberry looking delicious!

I can’t really say anything at this point as I’ve yet to grow any DJ genetics, but I can say that you don’t get a reputation like his by selling shitty seeds.

Sure, there are weak phenos and seeds that aren’t viable, but as whole I’m sure his genetics are quality.

My next few grows will be with his seeds, I will post up results good or bad for all to see.
