Old Grower - Novice Mistake

Hesitated to even admit to this, but decided maybe explaining this might prevent someone from making the same mistake that I did.

Grown outdoors for many years (since 70's). Had 6 recent really successful indoor grows under my belt, you can check out some in my sig, but I was generally expecting about 24 O's from a 5'X5" well set up grow area in a basement.

Anyway, everything was going great (until about 3 months ago). Robust plants. Looked perfect.

All of a sudden my plants clawed up like Nitrogen OD, but that could not be possible, as I knew I had not OD'd them on N. They got worse over time. I had NO CLUE what was going on.

I knew it was nutrient related. Took them all out and flushed under a garden hose for hours. Left the two worst outside (jumping ahead they are doing good) and took the 5 remainder back downstairs to the small grow area.

They continued to look like shit, and I was still baffled what in the F**k the problem really was.

Then one day (6 weeks ago) I was filling the 3 gallon household pail I had used to cart water to the basement in, and noticed a significant amount of white powdery residue inside the bucket.

Fuck. OXY-Clean. Chlorine. I do some deck refinishing and appearantly used a dirty "work bucket" to haul water downstairs to my plants.

Now it became clear. I had poisoned my own plants w/chlorine. No turning back from that one.

Ran them out and got maybe 30% of what I should have, all destined forpersonal smoke or cannibutter.

I definitely do not get anal about my water, this was all my fault. Nobody needs to get goosey about using chlorinated tap water on plants, I have done so many many times, that is not my point.

I guess my point, if there is one to make, make sure your water containers are clean. Nuff said.

Old Dogs can learn lessons, but the hard way.

Peace - AIM

I have certain equipment dedicated for growing only.... I never use them for anything else and i frequently clean them.

So sad to hear of your misfortune... Never been a fan of cross contamination.. Stay particular my friends!

Yeah, my hindsight is 20/20 on this one, just got careless.

Nothing to do in particular w/MJ actually. Same scenario would toast any plant. "Dick Deep In The Dirt" as we say 'round here.

Dude you sure thats safe to smoke ;-)
Pretty sure.

Is the chlorinated water you drink safe to drink ?

Cl is an essential element in human biology.

Ever get a drop of Clorox on you? How did it turn out ?

Whatever happened chem wise to my plants, I am not obsessing about excess residual Cl.

So, is this the way chlorine treated plants would manifest itself as then, similar to N toxicity with a dark green clawing appearance ?
Which would be useful to know.
Yes as far as I am concerned. I have OD'd on N in the past and it looked exactly the same but I could not get this one to go away, just got worse.

If there is any point I am trying to make it is NOT to be afraid of Cl in any water, rather keep your stuff clean, I used dirty buckets I used commercially that obviously had a lot of Cl residue in the buckets.

Now on my next grow they are looking like champs. Oh Yeah, they are looking great.
