Okay to turn lights back on??? After 60 hrs off.

Hello RIU,

I am wondering if it would be okay to turn lights back on after having turned them off for the last 60 hours. I am at the end of the eight week of flowering and have already started harvesting.

Background:

At the beginning of week 7, I noticed the trics were cloudy with some amber, so I decided to flush with final phase for a week and have been flushing with straight ph water during week eight. Well even though the trics seemed ready, the plant was only showing slight yellowing of the fans and all the leaves were still healthy. At the end of week eight, after all the flushing, the leaves were still only slightly yellow, though, more than before. So I decided to go lights out for 72 hours. During this time, I was still harvesting with a green light.

Question:

Upon trimming, I noticed there is a lot of under developed buds from the middle and lower. I was wondering that even though about 20 percent or less has been harvested, mostly upper halves, what would happen if I turned the lights back on to the regular 12/12 cycle??? My reasoning is to perhaps allow the lower halves to develop more and to give the uppers more time to turn yellow and crispy. They still look like they have a lot of life in them, not sure if I pushed things to fast.

Thanks:wall::leaf:

what sort of strain are you working with? a sativa or sativa-dominant will love having the lights turned back on, i've seen some ancient-breed sativas get harvested over a period of 6 months.
an indica might not respond quite the same way; i usually find what happens is that whatever's there hardens/finishes up better (which will up your yield) but doesn't get much bigger.

we do the dark thing at the end of our cycle too and have turned the lights back on for up to 2 more weeks with no noticeable problems....

hope that helps..

The strain is Presidential OG, it has been very resilent throughout the growth. I believe its an indica, but some say Sativa dominant hybrid.

So have you done this with an Indica?

+Rep for your last response.

i'm not familiar with 'presidential', but i think og is a 60-40 indica? (anybody?)

we've done it with og scrog. left about 40% to fill out for around 10 days, what was airy became hard. although it was all bottoms so we maybe only increased our yield 15 - 20%.

what do you mean by becoming hard? Do you mean solid? Think it would be a good idea to turn them back on or would it be a waste of time and energy? Thinking about just using the lowers and popcorn for other things possibly?

depends what you want to do, really. if you're in no rush (ie it's not like you have your next generation primed and ready to go), by all means, turn them back on for a while. if you just want it over and done with (or you needthe room) cut it down. in the 'time is money' way of thinking, either way is win-win.
