I do have a giant gallon sized pickle jar though...so can you use a large jar, or will that mess something up somehow...? I don't see how it would cause an issue...I mean a little jar with a little cannabis works? So, will a big jar with a lot of cannabis work?

I see this as being a good thing, "dam, too much weed for my jars," lol.....Bigger the better. Less burping required imo.

Yes it will work, as long as it doesn't smell like pickels that is. I know many many growers and middle men that store their buds in 1 gallon and 5 gallon glass jars. Generally the larger quantity you keep it in the better.

Well tupperware isn't quite as airtight as you might think...lol. And your buds will end up all crispy..and this jar smells nothing like pickles...it is super old...lol. But yeah I have just under enough to fill it up off of one plant...so that makes me pretty darn happy...

That is a nice yield. I love it when I run out of jars. I run to the store with a big smile on my face. And when other grows see me they smile back and say enjoy.

Well just like everything else I have been too lazy to just go buy a box of mason canning jars...I should just get a box...but instead I have a few jars I just cycle through...but I was out of room...so now I have a huge jar and may never need to buy jars again...

...the container store? That's got to be the most expensive place you can purchase glass jars... According to their website small 8oz jars are $2.50 a piece and those are their least expensive. Walmart and most hardware stores sell 12 packs of pint and quart jars for ~$8.

Well to be honest I havent done a whole lot of price comparing or internet research on glass jars. Sometimes I like to treat myself to the finer things in life. I saw a real nice jar for 4 bucks and decided to live a little. It's the real fancy kind with the nice rubber gasket and clamp lid. Keeps everything real nice. Next time I'm in the market for 12 jars I'll definitely check out walmart's jar isle. They probably have a much better selection too, container store only has 15 or 20 different types of jars in only a 5 or 6 different sizes.

WRONG!

http://www.containerstore.com/shop/kitchen/foodStorage/jarsTerrines?productId=10011037 The BIG 5L jars are $10 each. And these are VERY NICE HEAVY DUTY JARS!!! I have about 12 of them FULL of bud.

How am I wrong, they are $10! That's $2 a liter which is 4x as much as most other places (walmart)... I guess they are nice jars but you can get the same ones from a glass distributor for much much less expensive. Cost plus sells the same jars for half the price...

Personally as someone that use to sell bulk glass - I would steer you away from jars with rubber gaskets.

I prefer a 'KILNER' jar than a 'MASON' jar. Kilner jars are the ones with the latches and Glass tops. Unlike Mason Jars you can't lose the lids. I use 2L ones.

yeah...I know they are there and cheap...I just don't like to get things unless I have to...if i can make do...I would rather just to avoid an extraneous trip tp the store just for jars...

The link I posted to The Container Store is for the Kilner type jar. These are the Bormioli Rocco Fido jars made in Italy. They are considerd to be some of the best glass jars around.

Go and price enough mason jars to equal 5 liters. Then compare the space needed to store those mason jars.
