after readin so many topics about hydro stores i truly believe i have been blessed with the perfect hydro store, ive been to a few but the one i go to regularely gives me free sample bottles almost every visit, has no problem helping me with problems and lets me show him pictures and talk directly about the plant were both growing, thats the convenience were they really get me is that since im a regular customer i dont have to spend over $20 just to get a 20% or more discount. alls you need to know is one exhale bag bought alone cost me $20 flat, never found that cheaper online or in a store, have any of you?
it's a mom and pop place too isn't it? I stray from corporate bullshit too.

and it's not like home depot isn't trying to get their hand in the pockets too, look at some of their hydro systems and how they are priced. they'd like to be more into it but lack the knowledge it takes to run a hydro shop as opposed to a tool/hardware/home store.

Ya man, independent locally owned businesses are the way to go. For years before moving to the city I would go shopping at my local farmer's market for my veggies instead of buying them in grocery stores and hunted for my own god-damn meat.

Not put you on your ass smoke, that's all we did then was smoke so it had to be good. It was either smoke or coke, so your smoke had to be kickass.

If it wasn't illegal almost everyone would grow outdoors under the sunshine. Nobody is saying you have to have to spend tons of money to grow buds, but it is what it is. There are investments you will have to make to grow indoors though and if you want to keep it secret there are things you will have to buy to ensure your security.

Most of the big purchases are a one time buy and then replacing filters, bulbs and fertilizer and such. I remember when an oz of bud was $400 and even now the initial cost of growing is far less than you would pay for bud anyways so it basically pays for itself.

What store did you go to? I am in SAC. You need to shop around. In downtown sac there is a store that sells Hortilux super HPS 1000W bulbs for 70$.

People who think like that are just greedy capitalists trying to make it to the 1%. The type that would sell out their closest friend or family member for money.
The purpose of a GOOD business, is provide fair business, service, and products, while maintaining SLIGHT profit.
Not "Hey they'll pay it so why not" Profit.
Lots of selfish people in the world.

If ever the question "how much will you give me for it?" comes up. Just walk away because that guy doesn't give a shit about anything but himself and money.
I truly wish it was still the '40s like you clearly think it still is. I wish movies were still a nickel too.
The guy who owns the corner hydro store is not trying to be part of the 1%, get serious.
He's trying to make a good living with the least amount of work, same thing most of us
want for ourselves. Do you also look down on growers that are selling weed for more than
just a "slight" profit?

I'm not gonna say some of these shops don't over charge, the key like has been said is shopping around. I'm a believer in you get what you pay for to some extent, but I also believe you can get fantastic products for growing that aren't geared towards cannabis growers cheaper. I also tend to subscribe to the less is more belief, I've experimented with several different nutrient programs, and have always had good results no matter what brand it was. This is one of my favorites by far and what I plan on going back to in the near future http://www.texashydroponics.com/shop/product.php?productid=2204. Its a fantastic nutrient that isn't geared towards cannabis and costs about half of what many others do( 8 cents per mixed gallon of nutes).

So anyway where I'm going with this is the OP obviously has some anger issues, and a hard time expressing himself cus he keeps repeating the same posts over and over. You can deffinitely grow some weed with lights from lowes, and some dirt from the back yard, and a fish and fruit and no nutes and so on and so forth. But the point is...you WILL grow much better cannabis if you invest some time and money into maximizing the environmental conditions, period. You will yield better and you should end up with a better quality product without a doubt. You keep saying that you shouldn't have too spend 200 to put a seed in the dirt, and you don't, but if you want dense, heavy, tasty colas, not just some buds then you will spend it.

All I'm saying is " US HEMPIES " back in the day didn't need $200-600 to put a seed in dirt. Like I said the Basic to Golf is putting a ball in a little hole.
That is very true Sacto, but we really had to....the lighting system were really
expensive back then.

I just wanted to add that when it comes to costs, I tried to take the cost
of operation into consideration.

I would love to move to LEDs but they are just now getting to where they
are ready, and the costs are still too high.

What I am trying (badly) to say is that the cost of operation will exceed the
purchase price no matter what option is used.

Good luck in any case.

You usually get what you pay for unless you go to see a doctor or a lawyer but everything else you get what you pay for.

And I still play with my Wilson's clubs that was giving to me back in the 70s when I Cad at Del Paso Country Club, with a 8-9 handy cap at Serrano El dorado hills so be careful.

And if weed is better now then it was back then, why people need add-ons to kick you over ? like I said it was COKE OR SMOKE so smoke had to be kickass. And it us $600. To grow......but I'm saying it about the $ and not about the grow now. High prices don't get you better smoke. I should go back into my Time capsule !

Lol at all these people (who clearly spent hundreds of $$$ on their systems) defending the rip off prices at hydro stores.

Every business was started to make a profit, hydro stores are no different.

Nowadays you have 3 options:

1) Oldschool plant outdoors/cheap buckets let nature do the rest.
2) DIY construct hydro system
3) Spend $$$

Persoanlly I go with #2, but to each his own.
