Off-label Super Soil use.

I was mixing some regular base soil for growing some plants.

I had some peat, perlite, Miracle Grow "Organic" soil (looks like shredded yard waste from the dump, no perlite), and some worm castings. I mixed all this together and realized that it was probably a pretty inert, sterile mix because I only had worm castings. So, I saw some appropriately aged Super Soil and threw it in as about 10% of the mix.

Do y'all think this approach will work to achieve my goal of having some decent organic soil, is 10% too much, too little, bad idea? Since I've heard of people growing stuff directly out of super soil, I'm sure I could have added more. It just seemed like a really easy way to bring the dead soil to life.

yeah, i think it sounds pretty decent....sounds great for house plants......i don't really know what is in mgo, but imho it may need to be buffered with some dolomite...a bit of azomite may not hurt either.......and if you can bubble up some bennificials with a little guano and castings, spray it all down, and container it.....it could be something.....

......when i buy bags of base soil...say roots, or whatever, i empty the bags out and spray it all down with microbes, get it nice and damp, then container it, and let it sit for awhile.....many base soils are not composted properly due to time and space issues.....i think it is helpful......good luck, nugs

agree with Nugbuckets. i would make sure your mix is around 30% perlite, and lime it. and the trace minerals are a good idea. only MG patio has trace minerals, i believe,
