% of Concentrate Extracted Compared to THC % ? bho/ Bubble?

Hey all- tried to ask this question in general questions but didn't get a straight answer, hoping you guys might know-

Here's my question.

If you have some buds that were lab tested at 28% and you want to make concentrates, would it make sense that if you could extract 100% of the thc via bubble or bho methods, you would end up with a 28% return- and anything over this % would be lipids and plant matter? Also, if the said flowers that tested 28% were extracted with a 28% return of concentrates (If you used 100 grams of buds and got a return of 28 grams of concentrates) the concentrates would then be 100% thc? Is this how it works theoretically?


If this is correct, wouldn't it be best to have the flowers tested for thc% before making concentrates, then you would have a ball park of what to expect for returns when making concentrates out of the material.

I know it doesn't always work this way, some flowers testing higher thc % return less than other flowers testing with lower thc %, so why is this? It's just a little confusing and I know I'm missing something here, so maybe someone can help me out. Thanks :peace:

(Hope the question makes sense, basically just wondering if thc % is calculated by mass and if so you could then know the weight you would get back when making a concentrate, before you make it.)

You have a range of monoterpenes, through polyterpenes, including flavoids, anthro cyanins, chlorophyll, and plant waxes.

Even if you remove everything larger than a diterpene cannabinoid, you still have the mono and sesquiterpenes.

Ok, so if I understand this right, the terpenes are included in the total thc % - I know that some strains have higher terpene profiles, such as tangi, AO, Cali O - ect. So the plants with higher terpene profiles will show higher thc% from a lab test but not necessarily be higher thc % than a low terpene profile plant showing the same thc % from the lab?

Low terpene plant @ 25% thc
High terpene plant @ 25% thc

The low terpene plant would have more thc in reality? Do you know approximately how much % terpenes can account for on average?

Extraction processes are not complete.

BHO/solvent extract is probably more complete than bubble bag. There will still be residual % THC left over, the most complete extraction method would probably be a reflux over a few hours time, however you would get a TON of other plant things like chlorophyll and the mentioned above and it would be decarbed also in the process.
