Odor Control for a grow in a not so sealed garage

Ok, I have a single car garage turned into a grow, I built a 7ft wide by 20ft long area in my garage, I built 4 solid walls 8ft tall and sheetrocked it off and installed a door in there, now there is no roof on this grow room Ive built, and my garage has lots of creaks and cracks here and there in the walls, I was wondering if I got a carbon filter hooked up inside the room if it would even help? or would my room need to be totally sealed off with ventilation going out (im going to install an inline fan I think so run some air out)

Not sure on how I should do this, But I dont want to put a roof on the grow room.. My garage does not have big gaping holes in the wall, I can just see a bit of sunlight here and there,

Im planning on running 3 1000w lights with 40 plants, I know its going to get stinky, I got neighbors on both sides of me and while I think they could give a shit less what I do, I'm just trying to be respectful and have my room not so smelly when the time comes...

ideas?

Yh a carbon filter would help, a big one tho!!. If there's sunlight getting in it can affect your flowering plants. You could tarp the roof that will help contain the smell a bit. You'll definitely need ventilation hot air out cold in. Those 1000's put out a lot of heat. Even tho you think your neighbours might not give a shit, DON'T let them know what your doing. Loose lips sink ships!

imo you could just run some of that panda film across the top of the walls you built to help seal it off some, this way you could run a carbon filter and not have to worry about as much air / odor escaping like what you have now.. plus the panda film is pretty easy to install and doesn't cost all that much ...
just my $.o2

Great Ideas ! I will cover the top of that suma of bitch up tonight with Panda Film,

any suggestions on a good carbon filter?

Yes I know (3) 1000w will put off alot of heat but I also have a 15,000 BTU Portable AC with Dehumidifer, shit cost me close to 800 bucks, they told me it would keep most of my house cold, Im only using it for a 7x20 area.. lol

Oh yeah, I just wave to my neighbors, we don't talk much, and I smell some good pot smoke coming from their side of the fence sometimes, but I keep to my own, and even if they asked me one day Id just play stupid,

But another thing that is good, is that I have my growing license and am legal in california to grow up to 80 and travel with 6lbs, Ive been pulled over with 5 pounds in my back seat and they just checked my paperwork and said "Have a good day sir!"

Being legal is the only way to go, if I did not have my growers permit, then I would not even attempt this shit

Yo man check the Rhino filters out on this site http://www.rhinofilter.com/rhino_pro_filter.html

These filters are the shit... Go outside and you cant smell A THING! for your application i would imagine getting a 200X600 maybe even bigger. Like closetgardner said, you dont want your neighbours to smell a thing!

As for venting, i would seriously recommend core drilling through your garage wall on the diameter of the hole that your exaust is going to be. If you go to your local hydro store you can get reducers, so say if you had a 200x600 rhino filter with a 200ml inline fan for exaust and you didnt want a 200ml hole in the wall you can get a 200-125ml reducer so you would only have to drill that size of a hole. See where im coming from? On the outside just put a normal grill on it. For venting coming in i would imagine a 125ml fan would cover this. Again with drilling though...could you not drill a hole at the bottom of the garage near the front for your intake and then your exaust could go at the back at the top?

For the gaps in the wall what about using expanding foam filler? That would stop light, heat, sound. Perfect...?

For your fans try and get some sort of fan controller if you can. I have the sms twin fan controller and it works wonders. It has its own thermometer and when the lights go off it recognises this and slows the intake and extract right down. Very good if you dont want the fans blasting out all day and night! Just my 02. Good luck brother

I'll Check out those filters, So I need an inline fan to vent, and then the filter goes onto my inline fan? ive been growing for awhile, but never used an inline fan as I use to grow way out in the boondocks and smell was never an issue, now it is..

Portables ac are ineffecient and costly. If you ever wanna run co2, its a death sentence. My advice (if you can) would be to return that bitch and get somethin more effecient like eeeeehhhh a minisplit and duct that bad boy throughout. I got a 9000btu portable ac and 3200watts in half that space. Air cooling my hoods in a sealed loop REALLY helped (insulated ducting helped even more) AC can keep up now but you may run into some heating probs. Id make sure you dont before you start up if you havent already. Heat is no fun to deal with mid cycle.

Though a room that large may absorb that heat well.
Another thought, i dont think 3 1000w lights will cover 140sqft to well. With 140sqft, youll be well below "minimum" watts per sq ft of 30w (id keep a 50w/sq minimum if you want to grow some good kush). Youll have ~21w/sqft...
1000w covers 5x5 area.
IMO, id divide that into 3 areas of 5x5. Run a perpetual with 10 plants per. You could grow some huge trees and harvest every month or two depending on veg. Extra space for ballast and to vent hot air from boxes into the garage or up and away.
Potiential.
Sorry for ramblings, smoking a bleeze.

Sir Killington.

Ps. Make sure you rotate plants onthe ends, they get less light

This Portable AC kicks ass, I ran the 3 lights all night with the portable AC on 65 and in the morning I checked the temp in the room and it was 65 exactly, so that portable AC kicks some serious ass, and the portable AC cant just sit in the room, it has exhaust on it, like a big ass dryer hose that I had to run outside... its a bad mofo.. and I like it.. and Im keeping it in there.. I used it on my previous grows .. works great.,. keeps shit ICE COLD..

Ok so i went and looked at inline fans, Im trying to figure out what size I need to get, Im going to cover the top of the room with panda but I know there will still be plently of slightly open spots, so Im still growing in a room built inside a garage that is not very sealed

do i need a 8" inline fan and 8" carbon filter? or will 4" or 6" be suffice?
