edit: i think the title should read 24/0 but switching, i wasn't sure how to word it but 12/12 is misleading i guess.
hey guys, i kind of have a unique situation until i can get some better privacy screens on my windows.
the closet i am using for a grow has 400w light, the room the closet is in faces the street and through the window at night its pretty obvious there's a light on all the time in that room (light coming through blind/curtain to outside).
it just gets too hot to close at night- during the day i can leave it slightly open and since the sun is out anyway- its no problem. however, at night, i have this issue.
i have a hydrofarm fan bringing in fresh air and then venting through attic, it just unfortunately doesn't keep cool enough with the door completely shut blocking light.
what i have been doing is using the hps during the day and my old CFL setup at night, varying each light setup depending on day/night.
day- hps (got to keep the door open to keep cool)
night - old cfl grow setup (with this i can close the door completely- blocking light at night)
when i switch them into flower in a month or so i won't have this problem either.
my question really boils down to this- is switching between light sources in veg a catalyst to my crop hermy-ing on me? it's just messing with the flower cycle or anything since it keeping light on the plants at all time, just different types of light.
sorry for the essay, but i am trying to explain as much as i can to get a solid answer.
if anyone has any idea, let me know whats up.
soon i will get a lightblocking screen for the windows to hopefully block all or most of the nighttime light so i can use the HPS all the time.
