Odd Question #267 - If i hermie now we'll i have a chance at getting viable seeds?

I know, odd question, most forum members here hate hermies, and want them all to die, but yea. Its a bubblegum, 12/12 from seed, on week 5, showed its first hairs on week 3, If I hermied it now, is there any chance the resulting seeds will be viable? Or would this have had to been done right after I saw the first hairs? Any help of course would be appreciated...

the resulting seeds would also most likely be hermies, they will be viable as in they will grow, but you should have vegged a bit so you could clone, if strain continuation was your goal. you could always try and find a male.

what you would have to do is hermi the plant and use the pollen the hermi produces to pollenate another female plant, the resulting seeds should be female, not sure on is this is correct info just what i have heard, also not even sure if this is what you want to know hahaha

see for a second that made sense, but then if you were able to hermie the plant in the first place, that means hermie is in its genes, and no matter what you will still have a percentage chance of hermies.

Yep,
it is my understanding as well, hermie pollen should make more hermies...i would ditch the plant to be sure....hope to get a good male next go around, if you want to start breeding

†LHAO† I love all ya'll for replying, thanks for that, BUT ALL MJ STRAINS HAVE THE HERMIE GENE. All of them, even what your growing right now  In fact it is the female hermie pollen they use to make feminized seeds. As long as the resulting germinated seeds don't know stress, they won't hermie. even then, it depends on when they get stressed. So now that we have that out of the way, I know if I hermie it now, I will get seeds. I know they would be feminized seeds, not to concerned with that because I do 12/12 from seed which gives you a higher % of females anyways, but whatever.
Here's the real question I have: If I do it now, what are the chances the seeds would be matured enough to grow? I don't have to worry about anything else getting pollinated, I slaughtered everything but it and one sativa dominant bubblegum pheno, and I wouldn't mind if that one got impregenated by the indica dominant, hell, I'd prefer it.

Note, regardless, like I said, thank you for replying, don't have a mouse right now (don't ask, have a 3 yrd old daughter....) will have one prob this thursday, at which time I'll give you all rep.. :blsmoke:

yessir I did not say otherwise, with genes its all about percentage and chance, if your plant shows hermie traits its more likely to produce hermie prone seeds. I dont buy feminized or autos for that matter.
but other plants may have that trait and never show it even under stress. and then there are that percentage that do not have it just as there are mj plants that do not have the genetic trait to produce thc.
I prefer not to fuck with things at all because well I love sensimilla

no they don't

nope, hermies do not produce female seeds.

As long as the resulting germinated seeds don't know stress, they won't hermie. even then, it depends on when they get stressed. if it's a hermaphrodite you will get male, female and hermaphroditic seeds. And 12/12 from see does not give higher % of females. The sex is in the plant from conception.

Here's the real question I have: If I do it now, what are the chances the seeds would be matured enough to grow? I don't have to worry about anything else getting pollinated, I slaughtered everything but it and one sativa dominant bubblegum pheno, and I wouldn't mind if that one got impregenated by the indica dominant, hell, I'd prefer it.
depending on how long it takes to get some female self pollinating flowers out you may or may not have time for this grow. You may have to save the pollen for the next grow.

There is a BIG difference between a hermaphrodite and a female plant that has produced a few self pollinating flower. Hermaphrodites have both male and female genes and will produce male and female seeds that will be prone to hermaphroditism. A female from good stock has only female genes. That is why when they are forced to produce some self pollinating pods the resulting seeds are female. They only have female genes. This does not produce hermaphrodites since there are no male genes in the plant.
