Obama's address to congress.......

what say ye?

I give the man credit for standing ground, while playing the partisan card. I disliked the pathos appeal with the Kennedy bit. Overall, it was a solid presidential speech. He did exactly what he needed to do and I predict a reform bill will be passed by the close of October - perhaps sooner.

He should get a two week bump from an adequate sales job of the same old talking points we've been hearing for months. Again, saying it won't cover this or do that is nothing but words, and we've all seen how those can be manipulated or twisted. The problem with the entire speech was there was no hard evidence to back up anything he said. Just more promises and guarantees.

Don't tell me "Nothing in this plan will require you or your employer to change the coverage or the doctor you have", because that means nothing and it sure doesn't PREVENT it from happening. If you're going to bother to say anything, it had better be "We will make it a crime for any employer to throw his/her employees on to the public plan against their will". Anything less and it still allows it. I sure as hell didn't hear that... did you?

The only truthful moment I heard during the entire speech was when the Congressman from South Carolina rudely yelled "You lie!"

Even Alan Colmes said he didn't buy the $900 billion cost and the garbage about not adding one dime to the deficit. If they say it's going to cost $900 billion, then it will absolutely end up costing $2 trillion+.

I hope you don't think that by offering to run some pilot program on tort reform, all of a sudden everyone is going to change their minds. I heard the same old positions wrapped up in a partisan speech with moments of animosity and threats to those who oppose his plan. That's it, nothing new to see here folks... move along.

"dumb fuck brain block" you have you would have heard a man telling nothing but truths.

where is the solution from your republican buddies? you have none. go lay on the couch and keep smokin yourself stupid.

and alan colmes? thats your democrat example? youre pitiful guy. quit watching fox news its rotting your brain.

that was a fucking disgrace when that incredibly disrespectful repub yelled out lies. not 5 mins after the republican response to the address was com[plete he was already apoligizing.

you are just an example of a dumb ass conservative who is against all change even if its for the greater good. no one wants to hear your opinion.

The other rabid wing nuts have not chimed in? Could it be the outrageous behavior of South Carolina's Rep Joe Wilson calling the POTUS a liar in the house of congress? What a disgrace...

So medicare will be trimmed of waste and inefficiencies to the tune of several 100 billion dollars...and that money will go to another government program that will be efficient and non-wasteful? Is that the gist? That would be the first time ever. EVER. Everything the government touched previously...has been wasteful and inefficient...but not this time? I MUST BE RACIST as I am skeptical. Only racist people are skeptical of Obama's words...right?

The program will cost 900 billion dollars but not add to the deficit. Ok...sure just like passing the 2nd bailout bill would keep us under 8% unemployment right?

It was said by Obama that even 1/10th of one % reduction in healthcare costs would save us 4 trillion dollars...right? So what would 1/10th of 1% addition in healthcare costs...cost? Look at the chart provided...Obama is not Nostradamus. He cannot see months into the future...let alone years.

and the Kennedy bit was pathetic. Obama acted like he and Ted used to go out drunk driving and leaving women to drown in cars while they worked on alibis together or something.

A government big enough to give you everything is big enough to take it all away. (I forgot who said this, twasn't me)

Are you a lover of freedom or do you believe individuals rights are secondary to edicts from the state?

Tell me one freedom that Obama has taken away from you.

You must be new here... oh yeah you are. So now we are supposed to automatically believe anything that comes out of a politicians mouth simply because he says so, not because he can back it up with an actual bill or facts, but simply because some douchebag (that would be you) believes it?

Sorry, I think for myself and I didn't hear anything that was undebatable or truth beyond question. Glad you did, hope it made you happy, sorry it didn't change anyone's mind no matter how much you hoped it would.

LOL, so few posts and yet already showing what an idiot you are. Fox news...Fox news... blah blah blah... sorry doesn't work anymore. And you OBVIOUSLY can't read or you would have seen that I said it was rude. But rudeness aside, it doesn't make his comment any less accurate. Obama IS lying and it's YOU who are too stupid to see it.

And since your first posts on this site show you are a complete jerk and a shill for the left, I think it's more likely that YOUR comments are unwelcome. If you can't come up with something better than Fox News, dumb ass conservative, greater good or dumb fuck brain block, then don't bother posting.

I think he did well. I'm tired of the bullshit. All of them need to work together and come up with a solution they can all agree on.But so far, it's just one temper tantrum after another by the right wing, with no offer for real solutions.

Well, this thread took a predictable turn - surprise, surprise...

I think most of you just wanna fight and you manifest this urge vicariously through politics. Geez.

And the bit with the Carolina douche was ridiculous. He really showed just how unintelligent he is. There's not even a damn bill out there and he's calling him a liar on the content. Stunning.

Keep this in mind folks - there is NO health care bill yet. We cannot argue over what's in the bill until there IS a bill. Currently, there's NO bill. They have to draft it first, so let's save the debate on the content of that bill until the bill is drafted. Sound reasonable?

The right wing has been acting simply shameful with all the lies and fear-mongering. It makes me ashamed to say that I was once on the right.

Seriously. They really are showing their true colors. I sincerely hope that as the democrats alienate their constituency and as the republicans continue to resort to fallacy and irrationality, the american people demand a third party. Let's face it - the republicans are extinct and the democrats are just plain silly. Maybe a third party will arise. I've held onto this hope for over 15 years, but nothin' materializes...
