It isn't a "done deal" yet, I believe the movement is there and in the open... but it's very very diff than when Bill Clinton suggested it as an offhand comment. The move to allow gays in the military now comes with the support of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who now recognize that qualified manpower trumps sexual orientation on the battlefield.

I think this is a very parallel issue to MJ. When Clinton shot his mouth off, the country was just short of a broad consensus that gays in the military would at very least be harmless. We are very close to that consensus on MJ, but not quite there. I think a national effort at decriminalization would have traction, but would ultimately fall short. I think we'll see it a few years earlier by continuing to agitate at the ground-level and thru cities and states, and medical efforts and leaving the national policy alone for the moment. Then, just like a harvest... hit it when it's ripe.

It seems like we have more and more mayors, chiefs of police, judges, etc (these are MJ's "joint chiefs") expressing fatigue with the current police state around MJ, so it's building. I very highly doubt that Obama has lost any stones for MJ decrim, but he's just a smart-enough politician that he won't sacrifice his bigger goals on the altar of MJ. And that's just good gamesmanship.

Gays are already allowed in the miitary. That's why that crazy chuch in the midwest goes around protesting military funerals, because gays are allowed in the military. It doesn't matter to them if the soldier being buried is gay or not, gays are in the military so they protest at all funerals. Losers.....

I don't see what the big deal is anyway, does sexual orientation really matter when you're traveling to far and exotic lands to meet new and interesting people to kill them?

if you had served in the military and you had to eat, sleep, shower, shave and shit with your platoon, would you want an openly gay guy living with you? Why would that be different than a straight guy sleeping and showering in the womens barracks? not trying to sound anti gay, i am just saying its different when you are in those surroundings!! dont ask dont tell policy!!

It's such a fucking shame. the world is moving on and it seems more and more freedom is taken away from the average man. i am a lifelong member of the green bud society and as much as i would love to see the stuff legalised, really is it ever going to happen? i mean, they have banned smoking in public places and are doing everything to brainwash the public into believing its such a sin. alcohol is starting to go that way with the government looking to up prices, reduce volumes etc etc.

my friends, with this in mind, smoking the green will only become an even bigger social taboo and another thing those misfits down in westminster will never allow!

I'm sure pretty much everyone out there had a classmate that was gay that they showered with during PE class for years. So the gay guy looks at them, what's the big deal?

For the sake of the argument, who's to say there aren't gay women in the womens barracks? How is a straight guy in the womens barracks the same as a gay guy in the mens barracks? Shouldn't it be "that's the same as a lesbian being in the womens barracks" I'm sure the average of gay women to gay men per person of that gender is about equal.

I think it is kind of good news that he wasn't stronger on that subject. Right now, his task is to right the economy. MJ would help, but there are a lot of more viable solutions b4 resorting to MJ. One he gains credibility, I would not be surprised if he changes his stance. I would not be surprised if he didn't change his stance either. Remember, he could just send out an order to stop raids on medical marijuana dispensers without the long process of changing the law.

After watching that Obama Deception video, I have a whole new outlook on a lot of things. I knew the Presidency was always controlled, like a puppet, but man this shit is crazy.

Many mainstream blacks don't believe in Obama. They WANT to because he's such a great speaker, has such charisma and formal education. Just because he's black, we all of a sudden sit back and listen with all ears.

The obvious reason gays are getting allowed into the military isn't for their rights, it's for more soldiers.

I'm very skeptical about documentaries, especially against the government, but check this one out. I think most of it is pretty legit since the quotes and information are all from reliable sources. Plus the person who wrote and directed it has his own show on the internet and it's great.

Why don't you all have a problem with it being taxed. Do none of you smoke cigs? Even if it does "save the economy" ALL TAXES WORK FOR ONLY THE SHORT TERM. Marijuana will end up being taxed so much that it's cheaper to get it from "guy on the corner" anyways. Then you'll be arrested for getting it from guy on the corner and not the government for tax evasion. You will not like that pot is taxed, and you will not like it when they increase it, and you will not like it when they increase it more.

State law is what our founders designed and desired. The only way to have as little corruption in government, is to have diversified government. The US Government was at first only in charge of the US postal service. Of which it's one of the only government programs that actually returns a profit today. Good call on the State Law point.
