when switching to 12/12 for flower i always keep my veg nutrients going with the flower nutes and cut the veg nutes down gradualy.
was having a discussion with a friend and he says he just goes straight from using the veg nutes and as soon as he gets pistils he stops the veg nutes altogether and uses only his flowering nutes

we both never had any problems with these methods just wondered what way others do it

Well I grow in Coco with basically all Canna nutrients. I use House and Garden Root accellerator and Drip Clean, otherwise I use all Canna nutrients. I use Coco A + B, (I don't use an enzyme product unless I am using larger pots. I am growing SOG right now so I only use 1 gal pots and I don't think that an enzyme product does anything when you use small pots and force flower with short veg). So during veg, I only use Coco A + B, Root accellerator, Drip Clean, (maybe an enzyme product if I am growing large plants).

When I flip to flower, I use the same Coco A+B, Root accellerator (just dialed down a bit from vegging), drip clean and Canna Boost. I start to add Boost at the 1st sign of flowers. Also I use PK 13/14 for one week in either week 3 or 4 depending on the finishing time of the strain.

So the only difference in my nutes are I back off on the root, I add boost and use PK 13/14 for one week.. If I were using products that had different veg and flowering nutrient mixes, I would just switch them and not try to mix the 2 together unless that was instructed by the nutrient manufacture.
