Nutrient lock-out TEMPERATURE range

hey ladies and gents of RIU,

please move to appropriate section if neccessary but i posted this here as it is something i havent ever come across. im hoping for answers from growers who consider themselves advanced and can give detailed answers and provide experienced opinions, not answers like "well my mates cousins, neighbour has this dardy grow and he....." you get my point.

i can find plenty of charts and diagrams that thoroughly explain nutrient lock outs at specific ph ranges. what im looking for is some knowlage on NUTRIENT LOCK-OUT TEMPERATURES for a reservoir.


please help if you can, it would be highly appreciated.

As far as I know, nute lockout only occurs if the water in your res is too cold. On the other side is when your water temp is too high, there won't be enough oxygen in the water to prevent root rot. 68 degrees is optimum. Hope I have helped. Peace

Haven't really heard much on TEMP in-regards to nutrient lockout.. but I did find this on the net~

(Temp has no impact on the uptake of nutrients from everything I have heard or read before...... if this was true then you would not be able to grow cannabis outside in the UK due to nighttime temps dropping below this most nights.)


(Root temperatures have a direct impact on how well the roots will uptake the nutrients. Anything below 15c and it'll virtually stop the uptake of Phosphorus, below 10c will eventually lockout all of the main nutrient elements. Below 15c pro-longed and the plant will result in using its saved salts from its leaves, Thus nutrient lockout.)

Ahh interesting. I had heard about dissolved oxygen being effected by higher temps. I have just put a heater in the res so will observe any findings. I expect something at least to my eye even though its not side by side comparrison, i know what my plants do. Im sure you lot all have a perticular strain your fond off that you can 'read' well. The reason id expect a difference is due to the fact that its winter hear and my res temps are stupid low. Just touching 10c at night and 15c during the day. so this should definetly be good for them
