Number crunching for max yield

I'm a newbie, so forgive if this question is unrealistic.

I plan a small growop. To reduce risk I MUST keep total wattage under 2kW/H. I considered a 3*600W dwc sog with 3 wks cloning, 0-1 wk veg period and 8 wks blossom (with the right strain).

The plan was to use low wattage for clone & veg, and run this parallel with the last 3-4 wks of flowering, so that that new clones are ready to flower when harvesting = harvest time every 8 wks.

However it seems that 3*600W is overkill for the first 2 wks flowering when the plants are still small.

So instead of 8 wks blossom under 1800W I considered 2/3 sized crops, where the two first weeks in flowering are done under 2*250W and weeks 3-8 are under 2*600. This again in parallel, so that the first two weeks flowering run simulatenously with late fase flowering of previous crop.

Summing Wattage:
2*250W+2*600W = 1700W.

Less electricity usage and crop size but harvest time every 6 weeks instead of 8 :)

If yield for exampe is 1g/W/harvest

3*600W yields: 1800g/8wks =
225g week

2*250W+2*600W yields: 1700g/6wks = 283g/week

Yield increase: 25%

Does this sound anywhere reasonable to the more experienced growers out there?

You need to tell us what your growing areas are but it sounds like a good plan though I would go with 4-5X400W. 1 for veg and 3-4 for flower. Also, you can use a CFL to clone but vegging plants need ample light if you want tight nodes and a dense plant.

The 600W HPS is a great light efficiency wise but I still think two 400s cover more area and you can switch bulbs (with digital ballasts) which provides flexability. I would use strictly the Eye blue MH bulb until I see bud formation and them switch to the color corrected HPS.

IMO the 400W light is the most effective for growing when considering bulb flexability distance from the plants and spacing.
