im starting my second grow tomorrow.
and i know when you use tap water you should distill it.
but my question is how long does water take to get stagnant?
i filled up a jug with water like ten minutes ago when i thought of it.
does stagnant water have bad effects on plants????does it matter?
last grow i had the water in an open container and it took like 2 weeks before i had to refill it. was i using stagnant water ?

thanks

no one on here that I know of distills their own water. i'm not sure what u mean, but distilling means to boil the water and collect the steam so that you have water that is free of any ions or metals. some people who have city water leave their water out to let the chlorine evaporate off. but water only gets stagnant at higher temperatures and it has to be exposed to anaerobic bacteria. in other words, water that is constantly being oxygenated (air pump) usually will not get stagnant. but as a general rule of thumb, i would say that water gets stagnant after 7 days, and that is if you did absolutely nothing to it but let it sit out. stagnant water would defintiely have an effect on hydroponics plants. but for outdoor plants, it probably would not have that big of an effect, if at all, because there is so much bacteria in the soil anyways, and also once the water was absorbed, the anarobic bacteria would dry up and die.

tap waters fine just leave it out 24 hours to clean itself of clorine,
but if you can aford it bye a RO system with a high high output
