Not enough height ???

We just got done with our 1st harvest of 24 plants, and we are not real pleased. We have a veg and and a flower room. The veg room is 2 levels and very little height. We have to keep trimming them daily to keep them from hitting the T5 lights. :-(
There must be some way to keep these from growing so tall. I see other peoples pictures on here and on You Tube with one our two buds only on a short plant?
What can we do to keep them from growing so tall. :wall:
We can hold 24 plants in the veg room, and the flower room is larger with 4-600W lights, and height is no problem in that room. the only problem that we had in that room was that the branches all fell over. :wall: We hope that we have solved that problem for the next harvest by putting up two rows of netting at different heights to keep them from falling over. I am attaching some pictures of the veg room so that you can get an idea of what I am talking about. Hopefully someone can help us out with the height problem.:!:

You prune them and flower them. Depending how you want to grow, you can top them to create more colas. We top twice, the first main stalk and then the two largest stalks that grow in after the first topping. Once the plants start growing new stalks after the second topping, they go into flowering. This causes about 6 heads to form during flowering with our strain. If your flowering room isn't ready by the time the plants are the size you want with all the stalks you want growing, then you started the next set of plants too early. You can keep pruning them until flowering if necessary to keep them short, so all of your plants there could have their top halves or so cut off. Roots keep growing, though, and the plants will only survive in a given sized pot for so long without trimming the roots or transplanting. You can pull a plant out of its pot in dim light to check for root binding. This is usually easiest when the soil is dry.

As far as your weak branches go, you need fan(s) blowing on your plants at all times to both reduce heat and encourage stem thickening. If the plants are always shaking slightly from the breeze and fed properly, the stems should get strong enough for even the biggest buds.

You can LST them. It sounds wierd, but if you top them, you can spiral the branches and that will make the plant shorter without actually minimizing the size of the plant.

Imagine a Post standing straight up next to your plant, instead of letting ur plant trow straight u, you make it wrap around that post, this process makes its verticle hight much shorter while still allowing the plant to grow larger. IDK of anyone actually using this to keep their plants short, but it makes total sense to me and Its what im going to do.

Obviously a single post wouldnt change the hight alot, but if u had two? and went around both of them? if u put them even 8 inches apart you could make ur plant half the height. Or if u used 3 or 4 to creat a triangle or square you can reduce it even more, while allowing an opening for light?

IDK, i know this all requires alot of time, if ur looking for a simple solution i cant help much, and HONESTLY i dont know if THIS solution is feasable, I plan on trying it in a grow or two to see how much bud i can produce in a small area. People do it with vines to keep them from swallowing gardens, if it can be done to maximize verticle space, I dont see why it wouldnt be done to minimize it. People LST all the time.

IDK, just food for thought.

me thinks it starts with the plant choice you can only do short plants indicas gotta stay away from a lot of sativa input --some plants veg fast quick and tall some dont

and another thing unless you are training your plants with lst or sumtin your space is to small for straight grows you have to lerarn about supercrop and lst and other top training you cant even grow what they say are adv height the shit they say on half the seeds not straight grow or you going to ware yo self out bro chasin growf wit yo scissors (iwrite funny hugh)

do yo self a flavor and read sum of Hobbes's shit do a search he works wit dem little shelves like dat but he is a master a fuckin grow god by me you can learn a lot of shit bout what you trin to do

me dont like dem t5's no penatration i work better wit a cmh-ceramic metal hilide by philips for veg and a eye hortilux -hps and i got about 5 foot of space to work wit that often runs out leaving me to supercrop

if im growin sumtin i learn about itthe last thing i grew was by a guy name rez i researched till i found a article by him tellig a guy to grito 6 nodes then top it back to 4 nodes then gro to 15 inches and flower -idid that you shoud see it i just choped it 2 days ago its rez'z chemdog x sour diesel i cant wait to try it

im out - lots of luck - keep em gren - 1luv

In addition to topping, you will want to prune off any thin spindly branch that is notgetting enough light on the bottom, shading out other branches, and not going to produce a final product for you. If you are topping more than 2-3 times in a plant's life, then you have too many branches that don't get big enough to produce viable products.
Once they are as big as the ones in your picture, there are too many branches competing for light, and taking energy away from the branches that you want to produce. Each growing tip (meristem) should be exposed to direct light. You want to focus on the 4-6 branches that will actually produce in the end. Timing might be the issue here, plant clones too early, and they will be too bushy by the time you flower. Hack those ladies back to the fat meat. (6 branches). Also, growing shorter genetics will help.
Once you get out of that little box, you will need to increase air movement in order to grow stronger branches. Also, adding silicon to your nutrient solution will help with stem strength and dry weight. Best of Luck!

i think sometimes less is more you have a clusterfuck going on. Take down the shelf and split the floor space and i agree on depends on the strain and toughen em up with wind.

I LST'd my plants big time and by the time they were done, they were under 18" tall including the pot. My small plant, which did not do so well comparatively, only gave me 2.5oz dry. But my larger plant, which Im harvesting this weekend, should easily give me double that. Check out my grow journal in my sig for pics.

i like the Grizz's input way to many branches steling light from each other and none getteng enough from weak penatration another point is good growth needs air and space to brath

someone suggested what i was thinking to rip shelf and use hole space vor veg but wil slay plants even more cause of lack of penatration

these lights mor like flour tube then like our mh and hps get ups like i said everyone has their opinion and i dont like them

for what they cost and what they do for you im going to stop her dont want to get to negative

i found for this site ther is a hundred ways to do every single step i just dont agree with them all and you can spen yo $$ anyway you wnt

im out

you either lst them or start them flowering within a week of sprouting. You have no need for a veg cabinet if you cannot let them get tall. Trimming them constantly like you said is killing your harvest.
