Northern outdoor Auto AK-47

Hey everyone, welcome to my grow journal.

I have decided to try a guerilla outdoor grow this summer (First grow). My growing season is fairly short (end of May to September) which is why I chose Auto Ak-47. I also hear Auto Ak is one of the best auto strains. Anyways, on with my plan.

I will be growing in a secluded meadow kind of thing which will allow quite a bit of light to my plants. I have to buy my pots still, but im thinking about 2-3 gallons each. For my soil, im using a mixture of composted horse manure, peat-moss, vermiculite, and maybe some chicken manure too (Any advice on the soil?). I think i'll be planting on the 24 of May but in the meantime I will be getting my spot ready.

Thanks for reading, and any advice, comments, etc are Welcomed and appreciated.

I don't have any tips for outside but I am def gonna be watching your thread :) can't wait to see some pictures.

I used to grow outside long long ago but I stopped when i was almost busted :p story follows...

Like 10+ years ago i pushed my way about 1/4 mile into this thicket, cleared a small spot and planted my bagseed. (circled and topped with Chicken wire also) I visited the plants about every 2 weeks to check up on them, anyways when the plants were almost done budding I was out tying down branches on the monster plant (she was like 12ft tall and had some head sized cola's) when I heard the thump of a helicopter. I didn't think much of it for the first minute then i noticed all the tree's begining to sway and move as the thumping got louder so i ducked a good 15ft into the thickest part of the thicket i could get to fast. I looked up towards the top of the thicket canopy and what do i see? I see the bottom of the helicopter between sways of the trees. The helicopter proceeded to go above my tiny clearing and hover like 20 ft above the tree line. The helicopter hovered above my plants for a good 5 mins, I watched someone lean over the edge and take who knows how many pictures of my plants. Then the helicopter flew off. I ran my ass off grabbed a friend and we went back and picked the bud. (if i remember correct i got almost 1lb dry off the plants) The only thing we left behind was a 12+ft straight up stalk :p

Anyways that was my horror outside story :p

Ha ha, thats a fucking crazy story. At least you where able to harvest though.

I like the chicken wire idea, i'll probably do something like that too. Helps keep the animals out of your shit. I'll get some pictures up once there is something interesting to show.

Alright, so the weathers been shit here lately (snow storm in may?) so i'm a bit behind schedule. I just started germination. Started by soaking in warm water for about an hour and now they're in damp paper towel on a plate.

Along with my Auto AK, im germinating one each of G13 blue venom and pure gold, their not auto but they came free from attitude so i figure i might as well plant them.

Any whoo, im building a tiny greenhouse/ cold frame to start them in since I cant start them indoors and i don't want to go directly in the ground outside.

More pics to come

Good news, all 12 of my seeds germinated just fine. I have planted them into little green flower pots (as seen in the pics).

I spent the 20th building a cold frame, but after I was finished I realised that it stuck out like a sore thumb in the middle of nowhere so I took it down... lol... but instead I buried two of those plastic seed greenhouse things and put my seeds in there. So hopefully they will sprout pretty soon.

Oh and there are 13 pots in total because I lost track of which pots had a seed in them already, so there is one pot just full of soil, no seed.

Thanks for reading.

Hi all,

So I was getting a little bit worried about my seeds because the night time temps where getting close to 0*C but I just went out to check on them and they are starting to sprout.

A couple of my little seedlings look a little bit burnt. I'm pretty sure it was from the sun, because they where in direct sunlight this morning. I tossed some cheese cloth over the little greenhouses to diffuse and reflect some of that light to give my plants a gentler environment.

My plan is to leave them in the greenhouses for a day or so, then move them to their individual plots which I am currently preparing.

Thanks for reading.

hey

I've got my own set of auto ak's indoors and also live in the north tho not as north as you as it's 20 C degrees today. I'm going to grow about 7 plants outdoors in the backyard and none of them are autos...I would like to order some more ak47's just to grow them outside, but I don't think it will happen. It's a way better choice than the cuttings I have, but I'll make do. I'm really interested to see how you do.

goodluck!

Yeesh, so quick update... I'm getting worried about my plants because it's been raining with cold temps (about 5-10C) for like 2 days now. So hopefully they aren't stressed too much by the weather and are able to pull through. It's supposed to be warm tomorrow though.

So my worrying was unfounded, my plants seem to be doing well. Its been 4 days since they first started sprouting and you can just see the next set of leaves starting to form.

I still haven't moved them to their final positions yet but maybe this afternoon or tomorrow I will move them.

Wow. Mother nature is really starting to piss me off. This time of year usually has decent temperatures, but there's been a week of rain, wind and <10*C temps. I think my plants are really stunted, they really haven't grown at all since the last pictures where taken. They're 6 days old and still only have their first set of true leaves with the second set just coming visible. Has anyone who has grown a lowryder strain know if they're stunted or if this is normal?

So I went out and took some pics this morning. They're growing, albeit slowly. I just watered them with 1/2 strength seedling root stimulant so i'll see how they like that.

Okey doke. Sorry, it's been a while since i've updated. So the plants are doing pretty good considering the shitty temps I had to start with. But things have warmed up (about 25-30 C daytemps and prolly around 10 C at night (Still too cold but what ever)) and the plants have grown alot since my last update. I moved them from their little pots and transplanted them into the ground. Each hole consists of about 2.5 - 3 gallons of soil, which should be lots.

I doubt i'm going to get much in terms of yeild but i guess anything is better than nothing. I was originally shooting for an O per female but no I'm hoping for about an eighth per female. I'm going to go out and take some pics here shortly, I should have them uploaded in a couple hours or so.

Oh. and I have constructed a 70w HPS PC case to grow my Blue Venom freebe I got from the attitude. I planted the Pure Gold with the Auto Ak's... not sure if it'll be mature before frost but it was free so whatcha gonna do.

As always thanks for reading.

So I just went out and took a few pics of a two of the Auto Aks. The first one is looking pretty good, but the second one looks a bit haggard w/ spots on the leaves. Not sure why but I think it might be a defficiency or something, i'll have a read up on it tonight.

I tryed to take a pic of the nodes to see male or female, but my camera can't do macro but i'll see if I cant track one down here in the next few days.

Final pics are of my blue venom in the PC case. It seems to be doing well. I've got a mini scrog set up in there. But it's still pretty small (.64 sq.ft.) so we'll have to see how that turns out... lol.

Looking good so far! Looks just like my indoors did at the same age

Hey thanks pointy. That's good to hear, being my first grow I guess I'm a little over worried sometimes. Ha ha. I just took a look at your journal, man do those plants look nice... I can't wait till mine get to that stage.

I'm thinking about getting a couple more pics today. I'm excited to see how much they've grown in those 5 days.

Thanks for stopping by pointystick.

Auto ak's shoot up when they first start to go into flowering. Your plants will most likely be around 1.5 ft when there done. I have some outside right now that are just alittle under 2.5 ft. They look great!

Sweet, I can't wait till they get that big!

I just wen't and checked on them and 4 have shown sex as female, 3 male (killed them). Unfortunatlely, my best plant (the first picture from my last picture post) was trampled by an animal. it's still alive but I'm not sure if it will pull through (it hasn't shown sex yet). Incase anyone is counting, that only adds up to 8. One didn't sprout and the other one has some kinda desease I think.

I have pictures, but i'm having problems getting the pics from my camera so i'll upload them when I figure it out.

Thanks for reading.

That's too bad about the squished plant. I hope it recovers because I'm quite sure it will be female.

Thanks for checking out my journal. They should be ready for chopping anytime now so I'll let you know how they smoke. I'm not expecting much yield so I'm really keeping my fingers crossed it's chronic.
