Hello!:bigjoint:Welcome to my 11th waterfarm grow. I haven’t done one in 4 years, but I am very excited to get started again because I have some great new gear!

I will use my 4x2 Gorilla Grow Tent with a feminized Northern Lights.

I got my new VATA
Reverse Osmosis water filtration system yesterday
And my new waterfarm reservoir and clay pebbles yesterday as well. I am currently washing the pebbles off in the shower.

When you think the rocks are clean, rinse them more. The clay dust will make the pH rise, if you rinse them really well then that should stop after the first few days of operation.
For sure. I haven’t had New pebbles in a lonnnnngggg time! I will wash them very well! Thanks for the tip!

and i had problems running a stone and the ring with one outlet pump. i ended getting 2 outlet airpumps. the single pump would pump more to the path of least resistance which if i remmeber was teh stone.

did you drill out the holes in the top res? that's a good update to a WF. i think i went 3/8"

Yes my air pump has 2 outlets. I am not using the crappy air pump and nutrients that come with the waterfarm complete set.
I will be drilling more holes in the top res. The new waterfarms have changed this plastic part. This used to be completely open. Now they have a nipple like protrusion for the drip ring tubing and covered up the opening for any other tubing, so I will also have to drill this plastic off to insert my air stone tubing to go down through the pipe to the bottom res.

yep, i see that now. my bad.

i wouldn't drill a hole in the ring for the airstone, just drill a small hole in from the side of the tan res just above the water line

i only run my airstone when the roots hit the lower res.
When I was looking a bit more I found these newly designed key hole open areas on the upper res that my tubing will fit and slide down perfectly .why not run the stone from the get go, more oxygenated water flowing about.

you could run airstone from day 1, i tried a side by side and it didn't make a difference.

i run my WF's drain to waste with an autofeed system if you ever want to consider that route. i can go away for 2 weeks without problems.

I'm excited to see what you can do with this system. I did Northern Lights on my first grow, it was super easy and forgiving for a newbie, I'd like to see what a pro can do with it.

How much water can that ro system hold? I'm using an RO buddy, but it's kinda ugly sitting on the wall in the laundry room. That system uses a lot of hydroton... hopefully it's cheaper there than it is here.

I did try an extra res hookup to a couple waterfarms that I ran at the same time years ago so that I could go away for a while as well. It worked great. It is an excellent addition , making flexibility in your vacation schedule much easier with no worry.:-D
DAT, You’re a legit badass on this site. Reaching legendary status.

Also, you joined the site like a few weeks after me...awesome. Glad you’re still around and active
Thank you so much for such a nice compliment. I love this site. It is so much fun and there are so many nice interesting people like you! Your one of my oldest dearest friends on here and thank you for all the inspiration and help and support throughout the years.:weed:

Thank you.i love the old classics. I had a friend on here once, by the name of Dropastone who grew the most incredible Northern Lights . So sugary and massive colas. It’s been a long time dream to finally grow it myself. In need of some sleepy time weed so I hope I get a heavy Indica seed. My new RO system pulls a gallon a time. Very fast , very stealth. It was very expensive but I plan on having it forever.
The bag of hydroton pebbles I got with the waterfarm kit....The bag said made in Germany. The cool thing with the pebbles is they are recycled For every grow and get more stable with no worry’s about ph issues . My light is coming today!:-P

Mine weren't very pretty and I accidentally dried to 40% which killed the flavor but the high was really nice and great for falling asleep. I didn't know about the ph issues that @Renfro stated or that you had to rinse them. I used them right out of the bag and it gummed up my air stones and turned my reservoir murky. Still surprised how much hydroton the waterfarm system uses.

I was incorrect about my RO system. It pulls half a gallon a time not a gallon. I use it for my drinking water as well. I never used anything but a waterfarm and I just use the entire bag of hydroton pebbles they provided. It seems to work really well, so I have nothing to compare. I love those pebbles! They are very awesome . Yes, you should wash the pebbles very very well when they are new. I will be washing mine all week in the shower, mixing and sifting and getting all the dust and dirt and soft spots off and then will do a few dry runs with my drip ring and a couple complete res changes until I see no dirt or goop from the pebbles in the res.

Waterfarms are fun! I love the design. I just unboxed my new light. It’s a Timber Model 3VL with adjustable lighting. It will fit perfectly in my 4x2 tent. I love the spaced out look and the long design. Very excited to get this baby heated up!

I’m ready to make some more holes in the top res . The holes are 1/4 inch big.
