Northerlights 2nd grow 5th week flowering.

Thought I'd share these pics with you...

Sensi Seed - Northernlights. Currently 90cm tall from soil
Veg - 5 weeks @ 24hrs.
Budget, closet set up.
250w MH & HPS(changed 1 week in-to flowering 12-12).
Fan heater. (to keep temp up when lights off)
Open the doors a bit to control temp!
John Innes potting compost (will mix my own next time)
MG soluble - epsom salt treatment (veg) -
Hesi Bloom & Phos + abit of hesi TNT (flowering)

Hope it to be ready to smoke in 14 days time when I finish work for xmas! May be a bit hopeful though!

Im sorry, but that wont be smoke worthy in 14 days. You're gonna need another month or so.

I kinda knew that in the back of my mind, but was hoping someone would tell me I was wrong!

man thanks for this, that northern light grew taller then i thought they would.

Could you let me know how the smell is... is it noticeable walking into the area or just up close?

I keep the bedroom door shut, and you can smell it as soon as you enter the room! The odour gives you lovely dreams at night!

Its not really strong, but i'm in a ground floor flat and I wouldn't open the windows to let the room air unless I knew my neighbours were out.

I'm guessing the odour will get stronger as the buds mature.

It is now getting stickier but too tall for my grow room! (1m)

The plant now has a strong stick for support and I have lent the plant (and pot) over at about 30 degrees.

This should avoid the top burning on the light but still keep most of the plant directly under the lamp. I then rotate the plant 90 degrees every 24hrs... the buds move to point up toward the light within an hr!

I guess if I tried to top the plant at this stage it would do more harm than good! (I didn't expect it to grow this tall... i will top them next time)

The buds are getting sticky now though!

Sorry Lowkster I seemed to miss ur post... and been focusing on my Journal.

Bout 8 weeks now... started 1st Nov...

Too tall! Had to steak it and lean it over... a few brown pistles!

Lower buds are ok, higher buds now filling out.

Two more weeks!

I've had a couple of accidents since putting a humidifier in... turned the internal fan off when lights off - but forgot to turn off humidifier!

WHAT AN ARSE! the closet was dripping & RH was & 99%! (and very dangerous with electrics- I unpluged fans etc outside the grow room).

It soon dried out and returned to 40-50ish%...

on the upside - there are now loads more trichomes on the leaves! (30% more?)

So I guess I learned that keeping the RH fairly high is good, but low enough to avoid bud rot.

Some say keep RH high untill 2 weeks before harvest (not 99% though!).

Nice Minger I grown a few northerns myself but due to space conditions I can't let em get even close to that big. I was wonderin about that light though. Looked like before u tied her down she was growing around the actual bulb, lol. Looks like u got some nice nugs on there, happy smokin.

I took a couple of cuttings from her just as she showed her sex.

I have since had them 'ticking over in my germ'n box, 5-6 weeks... Till I got my veg tent... then after a week in there I FIMmed them...

I FIMmed them a week ago to lower the hight of the next grow... 1 looks great (4 nice shoots)...

the other still has a main stem but also 4 okish shoots (I will top this tommorow & try to grow the topped bit on)

They are now in 24hrs dark before I put them to flower - though they are showing pre-flowers and tricholms already (in 24hr light! - apparently normal after 2mths).

Also a nute prob - think they need more P and K already... they are desperate to burst into flower.

Humph! Still waiting... kinda... I had to try a few buds.

60 days now... the lower buds are filling out nicely and prob at about 30-40% dark hairs (tho u can't see in the pics) Trics have clouded but none are orange yet.

The top half of the plant seems to be about 2 weeks behind!

I think I will just keep the plant going and snip off the buds as and when they are ready.

The clones arn't looking the best either... The leaves suggest that they need a good dose of Phosphorus, but as they are still a bit stressed after FIMming them, the plants aren't taking up much water from the soil and I don't want to over water them.

I repotted the clones today so the drier new soil should soak up any excess moisture... otherwise i will place the plants on a heated seed tray to help to evaporate the excess moisture.

I clipped a bud last night, as it was New year's Eve & all...

I dried it out quick in an egg carton, in the oven... 50C (fan oven) 2hrs... A great high- 2hr buzz... not much taste, bit fruityish!

The trics are now cloudy on oneside of the main plant and clear on tother (they turned yesterday, so the other should turn today)... Though only on the lower half of the plant! Hopeing the cloudy ones will then turn amber in the nxt day or so.

I will harvest the buds as they mature... I am back at work nxt week, so they should mature quicker than I can smoke it! ... which will allow me to dry, store and mature them so that they are ready to be smoked properly.

Though I am feeling guily that I have, impatiantly, clipped 7-8 buds already... I have just had a quick count and found that there are still 30-40 buds left! 15 should be ready to harvest in the next few days, and the rest will be watched and harvested as and when they are ready.

The woes of trying to only grow enough for personal use.. in case I get busted!... UK...

dunno what the limit is... they will take ur equipment anyway...

But you could just keep it to a fine + a suspended sentance (plus regular check-ups from local police) if you don't look like some 'Technical grower'... I.E. no hydroponics etc.

But if you look like you are intenting to supply the world... you are gonna get 2-3yrs in prison.

I for one could not handle a prison sentance... I am too much of a free spirit... I know very few people that even smoke weed these days! ... I don't sell (or give away) & dunno anyone to buy from.

LEAGALISE HOME GROW IN THE UK! ... 10 -15 PLANTS per address!

The government could sell a licence (like road tax or a TV licence) allowing upto 15 plants at any one time!?

£200 per year for a licence to grow your own/personal weed?

And still keep the current laws regarding 'carrying, smokeing & selling'.

Personaly, I think it would more than cover any decrease in alcohol & tobacco taxes ETC... not all grows would be sucsessful.... Plus leccy bills etc.

Anyway... still smokeless!

... I lied... I still got 1/2 a bud left!

Flatrider, I've got the Northern Lights Special, almost identical to this strain, 5% sativa 95% indica. The height really depends on the phenotype, but ive gotten it up to 5.5ft. NL can be grown pretty tall unless one of the parents is a dwarf.

As for the smell, in my experience NL has been one of the less pungent odors. Its spicey in smell, but isn't distinct and skunky.

This NL and many NLs like this are sativa in appearance so growing them tall is fruitful.
