North East out door Season 2014

Hello every one i am going to attempt my first out door grow in the North east , i have experience with indoor hydroponic i am looking for some tips and advise from any one that has grown around the NY , CT , MA area all advise is much appreciated! i am trying to figure out which type of soil i should go with for outdoor any advise?

I'm not in NY.. about 8 hours or so south but I grow outdoors and do pretty good. For my soil, I mix compost/manure, topsoil w perlite, a little sand, and screened native soil (to keep costs down) and some peat. Works good for me.
