Noob Question About Germanation

My buddy has always thought that once the seeds are germinated in the wet paper towel and the tape root starts coming out of the seed, that the proper way to plant it in the growing medium is to point the white tape root down (has been doing this, and never had any problems). Though, he got some seeds and the instructions say that he should point the white tape root upwards. Is the the correct way it should be done? Please explain to him the correct way.

Thanks so much!

I'm not sure but from reading thread's on here if you put it upward's, gravity will make it go downward...

ive always planted mine down. you will see that once u plant it, within a few days the rest of the seed will pop up and then the first set of leaves come out from there. taproot is a root. roots stay under the soil. point it down.

It has always been my understanding that the taproot should be placed downward. Its all speculation until you find a credible source so I did some research and found your credible source...

In Jorge Cervantes', "Marijuana Grow Basics", Jorge gives step-by-step instructions through the germination process and instructs,

"Take care not to expose the tender rootlet to prolonged intense light or air. Point the white root downward" (Cervantes pg 33)

There are also pictures that walk the reader through the entire process.

Hope this has been of help.
