nodes too tight... wtf?

Ok so doing 5 gallon dwc northern lights fem. She is about 2.5 weeks veg right now. Using full Gh line and DM gold zone. Including rapid start. That ball is there for scale, its a small piece of hydroton...

There is sooo much side branching its like its gonna suffocate, and its on its 6th node i believe. Anyone know whats going on? Does it mean that this plant will yield ungodly amounts or maybe to much light? Using 105 w 6700k cfl and 100 w diamond series led.

With LEDs, your node length will tend to be too tight unless the light is at least a foot above the top of the plant. Lift your light up for a couple days, and see if she stretches. Tight internodes aren't the end of the world, though.

So im using too much light then? I need to raise the lights?

maybe the lights are too far away, it will grow up more if you trim or prune the lower leaves and branches. you might not want the tinfoil right up against the plant but just an idea. how close can you put your hand under the light- without it being too hot to keep your hand there. that is how close the plant should be. how does the dwc work is the other thing, if its not the lights or the tinfoil , and how about a fan for fresh air?

It looks fine. Don't do any pruning yet. That plant is still young as hell and needs all it's leaves to create energy for growth. It's doing ok.

The foil is there to try and keep the water temp down. From everything ive read, low light causes stretching. Im just worried im hurting it by giving it to much light and its gonna suffocate in its own leaves.

Can't give it too much light, man. You can bleach it, but I have only done that by touching the plant directly to CFLs and placing HIDs within 6" of the tops. But as far as giving it "too much" light... You'll never come anywhere close to the power of the sun indoors.

I'm pretty sure the foil actually raises rez temp... It's not going to suffocate lol. If you want longer internodes raise the light.

So i should just keep giving it as much light as possible? Could this be due to heat stress?

Thats good to hear. Think i should go gor longer internodes or keep blasting it with light.

dude, i don't know why you'd want your node spacing to be super far away and have your plants be stretched out.. not what you really want... the more branches, ie, node sites in the smaller space, the more the plant is going to yield in the end of the day compared to the same plant that is 4 foot tall with only two nodes.. all of those branches will eventually be covered in bud sites, the more the merrier imo..
and the plant won't suffocate because it has too many leaves, in fact it's the opposite.. those leaves are the power house of the plant, they hang out in the light and collect light energy and convert it into food and sugar that they plant uses to grow with via photosynthesis.. so again, the more the merrier..
i kind of disagree about it not being possible to have too much light for a plant, but you're surely no were near that amount of light at the moment..
leds are known for producing plants with super tight node spacing, nothing wrong with that.. if you want them spaced further out, simply move the light away from your plants some and make them stretch to the light, not sure why you'd want to though honestly..

Nodes too tight? Too much light? Im not buying it. I agree with Humbleservant that LED is not as bright as the sun. She is looking pretty lush and those leaves look thick as hell. I did notice a leaf was curling around the edges though.

Yea so from what im hearing its pretty good like this. The leaf curling, is it due to heat stress? what should I keep my canopy temps at?

I like mine anywhere from 70f to 80f. I wouldnt sweat that curling now because it doesnt look badjust make sure it doesnt get worse. Check out my TGA scrog link. I was able to keep my light a few inches away from the plant and I had 7 or 8 nodes on a plant that wasnt even 6 inches tall. I topped it and it looks like a fat bush but it is still tiny.

It looks fine just let it grow.

i dont think ive ever seen someone worry about nodes too close. Its kinda like worrying about having too much to harvest. Its a good thing.
