Hey guys I have an Afghani #1 that I got as a freebie from Herbies that is still showing only white pistils. Could it be something I am doing? This plant didnt have the greatest beginning and stretched like crazy but everything I've read on the strain says it flowers in 50 - 55 days I'm at 60 and it looks no where near done. Here are some pics of one of the colas

Any ideas? It looks like it has a long way to go

If youre counting from when you flipped the lights then... youre not counting the 7 to 14 days most strains need to flip from veg mode to flower mode. Most breeders count the days from when the first buds start to appear. So 50 to 55 days would really mean 65 to 75 really...

Yours look like theyre getting close. Wait em out...youll be glad you did....

I dont believe you can really tell properly without checking the trichs, just my opinion but white pistils can keep on coming but the trichs can tell you exactly when she is done and ready to be chopped!!

This is fantastic advice good job. Hair "color" has not a thing to do with any indication of harvest time. My Jack Frost, High Plains Drifter and Bubble Gum have mostly white "hair" at harvest. It really is all about the trichomes such as Steven 8 5 suggests.

my educated guess is that plants light cycles have been fucked with too many times. i have seen this a few times and it is always when the plants have had their dark period either extended or cut short for any reason. the single finger leaves and elongated bud structure are a BIG giveaway that the plant has suffered a slight re-veg.

nothing can be done except letting it finish and make sure there are no light leaks or that the timer is working correctly. the buds will never fill out properly and you will have very stalky buds with little resin on them compared to if they had been grown to perfection, nothing you do will make them finish as they should.

during any point in the grow did you extend the light cycle or have a power cut etc?

There have been some small missteps with the light schedule. Maybe she was a little more sensitive than the other plants, they don't seem to be having any issues. I guess I'll just give it maybe 2-3 weeks and chop because I don't think she's going to get any better. I just want her out of my flowering room because I will be needing the space soon.

Here is a picture of another afghani flipped on 9/11 in the same room it's doing fine so I know it isn't the lights or heat 20151011_134547.jpg

This was taken last week

Looks like one of those strains that just take longer to finish. I would do 3 more wks myself. I personally believe seed banks measure time frames based on s.o.g. or with proper veg from seed. not to mention the power of the lights they are using. Just my opinion. Nothing factual.

If you look at mine closely you can see mine have loads of orange/Brown pistils but loads of white aswell but they have been like that for weeks but the trichs have only just about all turned cloudy and about 2% amber i have 10 days left of my grow and then they will be chopped for drying/curing which in all honesty is probably the hardest part of the grow as if you get the curing wrong you could be in for some horrible smoke!!
